I think this is just about dreams. Dreams are much more beautiful, and incredible than real life. Unfortunately, if we waste our lives dreaming, then we can't exactly accomplish our dreams. I just get that from the chorus "everything you need is right here."

Has anyone thought that Stevens maybe didn't intentionally calculate, "Oh let's make this... 17/4, and then 5/4, then 4/4..." Honestly, if he actually realized what time signature this song was in I'd be impressed. Or maybe he's cold and methodical about music just like the first five posters here. I STRONGLY doubt that he even WROTE the music out.

"No matter what stupid sort of mission you're on" I heard consoling, not stupid... hmm... Just in my opinion, I felt that the beginning of Invisible had a bit of every song inside it. I could hear a bit of Dashboard, etc...

Great song, I don't exactly have anything meaningful to say but it's one of the best songs of We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank.
