Seven Mary Three – Water's Edge Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm kind of disappointed that as I read through every comment, no one was even close to being right, but more concerned with being smart asses.

This song is based on the 1986 movie, "River's Edge", starring a young Keanu Reeves.
In the movie, this high schooler kills his girlfriend & shows off her body to his friends. Most of the friends aren't disturbed by it, & instead try to protect their friend. One of the dude's little brothers finds the body, & no one knows who is going to be blamed for it, or how the police will find out.

Hope everyone else gets that.

i'm pretty positive this song's about cocaine.
Not that i know Matt well enough to say, but I could see him snorting some giant ass rails before i could see him shooting shit up his veins.

I mean, have you ever done it?
Even when I'm high on the shit, I still maintain the reality that I can only feel this way if I do more of the shit. And I know deep down that I really should not do more coke, even though I have already decided I am going to no matter what i have to do to get it.
this song + coke addiction totally makes sense.

Rx Bandits – Taking Chase As The Serpent Slithers Lyrics 17 years ago
It totally makes sense that this would be about heroin, about fighting the addiction & that 'one more time'.

It could still be about something else though, even if heroin seems like the most prominent choice.

i totally get a 'Police' vibe from this song, which is totally different from anything KOL's given us before, either way amazing.

Trying to figure out what this song is about is nuts, i'm thinking it's his lifestyle

The first verse is about him feeling that he's responsible to change the world in the position he's in.
His life was sheltered growing up & he'll be okay if he doesn't see everything. He's holding onto the memories of growing up having fun in his sheltered life

The kids in the street part is about how kids think they know everything, & shouldn't be doing the things they are but he knows they won't listen because he's older & if they listen to his music, they can learn something.

I think the chorus is like.. he feels vulnerable with his music, because it's all of his feelings & experiences & baring his soul to the world.

The correct lyrics for the next verse are:
My papa’s slave had to go & fight the war
He'd beat 'em all then he took 'em all to court
My papa called & he said 'you remember me?'
Now he's workin' awful hard in his factory

[i have no F-ing idea what this means & i'm too tired to attempt it]

The 'We ain't even been to the ocean
We been runnin' barefoot through the street'
could be about his rural lifestyle or about touring & everything being so raw.

Kings of Leon – True Love Way Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about him really wanting a girl, but she won't necessarily acknowledge it. He's telling her how great times could be if they were together & maybe people think he's nuts for wanting her.

Kings of Leon – Fans Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is called fans, i think it's self explanatory if you read the lyrics. It's an effin' amazing song.

I'm probably wrong, but the:
"Try for the girls, who try to tear these tight clothes"
could be saying something else,
maybe:
'And try to fit you out those tight clothes'
or fill out?

trying to decipher their lyrics are like trying to translate the bible.

Does anyone else hear:
"and people say our babies are walking this town"?

I know that's not right but i swear when he's recording he does that on purpose.
when people leave my store i say 'fuck you very much' just to see if anyone notices. same story.

This song is amazing, and fits well on this amazing cd.

This being the first track is brilliant, because if this is just song one, what the hell is coming you know? the cd totally lives up to this song too.
Too bad they're not coming to FL with their US tour.

Kings of Leon – Soft Lyrics 17 years ago
it's nuts to me that some people think this isn't about whiskey-dick. I thought it was pretty obvious.
"i'm in, i can't get off'' ?
''i'd come all over your party'' ?

it's not just my severe pervert talking this time, any idiot could come to this conclusion.

Rx Bandits – Overcome (The Recapitulation) Lyrics 17 years ago
okay, definitely my favorite song of all time, ever.
I think it's pretty much self explanitory if you just read the lyrics. Very powerful & TRUE message.
I wish people could listen & live by ithis song.

& also LetMenBurnStars,

"there are laws against nature but it's ok
For you to be addicted to over the counter prescriptions
And magazines dictate all of our human relations"

I could be wrong, but i'm pretty positive that first & second line is about marijuana & how BS it is that it's illegal for us to have something from nature but it's okay to take a pill for anything that's introduced to us as a problem with ourselves to feed the pill market.

'and magazines dictate all of our human relations'
stand at the checkout at your local grocery store & read the crap that's in front of you. We have to obsess over who's bulemic or cheating in hollywood as opposed to trying to conquer our own problems.

LOVE this song.
