i think its ironic how the songs is about joy but the tempo and melody are haunting, slow and not"full of joy" to me it gets the point across even more clearly . the way she pauses in the phrase "because the world owes me.....nothing" has you holding you breath going "what the world owes her?" but then she softly says "nothing, we owe each other the world" and i'm left feeling incredibly humbled and appreciative. -a masterpiece |

ive been trying to figure out this song because i love it so much. "you come to me with cake in your pocket, the soft kind thats mostly icing" someone comes to her with an offer, situation, or proposal in general, but its sugared up to the point of "not enough cake" you know. and shes kind of hanging in the air because she knows its a shifty deal, but then again she has a sweet tooth. |

| i think the phrases "hat shaped hat" and "man in the shape of a man" are all calling things out that aren't really what you think they are, or that can be interpreted in different ways, for instance when the man holds up two fingers and says "how many fingers?", referring to number, ani replies "peace man, thats where its at" transforming it into a symbol rather than a quantity. over all another fantastic groove set by the wonderful little folk singer. | |
