Envy on the Coast – Lapse Lyrics 15 years ago
I feel like the narrator is someone who's dead and about the struggle of facing that.

the first time I read the lines
"Do you recall the day you wed?
Such a radiant bride
You couldn't wait to see your first born
Take his very first steps
Then you smiled at him
'Cause you thought he looked like me"
I was really confused.
But now it's about a past lover, maybe they thought they were the one for eachother, but heroin got in the way and ruined it. The boy is gone now, but maybe there's something to believe that the child is his, which is why she smiled.

The Sound of Animals Fighting – I, the Swan Lyrics 15 years ago
I worship this song.
There's something to be said about the choice of the swan. They are white, a color of purity, but then there's the image of something phallic that most would consider impure. It is about the idea of conflict between man made beauty and natural beauty. Who picks what? Who even knows?
Think about The Ugly Duckling.

It seems kind of like its about heroin. But if you think it's about a dead grandma, or you know it's about it, right on.

Everyone has their own opinion on god and religion, and I don't think this is the place to bash someone on their views. And opinion is a terrible thing to waste.

Circa Survive – Kicking Your Crosses Down Lyrics 17 years ago
This song gives me shivers and chills. On the surface, it seems like an attack agains religion, but the more I read the lines and hear the song, it seems like it's much deeper.

Alot of the lines feel like a there's a sense of disappointment over a broken promise which lead to a sort of skewed view of human relations.

"And all the voices sound just like you" is pretty much what I'm basing my theory around because of that feeling of haterd towards things and sayings that remind you of someone or something that's fucked up your life.

"I’ll be there-

I’ll be waiting-"
Somewhat related to comfort phrases that when the promise is broken, makes all similar things seem similar.

I could go on, but I'm sure I'd bore everyone and my little explination would be skipped due to length.

And Cather, I don't think they believe in god, it would contradict alot of their theories and such.

Mae – Where The Falls Begin Lyrics 17 years ago
Listened to the song a few times again...
About dreams?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's about dreams. It all kind of fits in with the 'you wake up, but can't remeber' ideal. Hell, it even says 'You wake up, the dreams that were there are/ The memories you can't seem to keep'

Maxeen – White Flag Lyrics 17 years ago
It's kind of a comming of age song.

You're trying to learn the rules, then you get out of school and are lost and confused and don't know where you're going and what you're doing. You see all these things that rob you of your innocence and are freaking out because you don't know if you'll ever be happy. Then there's that thought... 'should I just give up?'

The Unseen – Goodbye America Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is really one sided. Maybe it's just me, but it seems kind of stupid to bitch about a country that gives people so many rights. Sure, we still have some issues with politics, but America is so big and diverse there really is no way to make everyone happy.

I do get where they're comming from, and do really like a few lines, mostly these..

'pledge allegence to your self
not greed, power, war, and wealth
remember you were born a human being
not a part of their machine'

People need to stop giving into mob mentality. Just because the person you like, or your parents, or your friends, or a band you like thinks one thing, you don't have to agree.

Dear and the Headlights – Skinned Knees & Gapped Teeth Lyrics 17 years ago
Ahhh, this song is so clever. I'm pretty sure it's about childhood memories. The song writter must have gotten hurt alot as a kid, and his brother (John?) probably got in trouble or was the ring leader of all these adventures. I think my favorite part is about Teddy Ruxpin because that thing used to scare the shit out of me. I also think the Tundercats part is pretty clever because the first couple of times I heard it, it sounded like his wife messed up the wedding tape. If you listen closer you relize it was John, his brother?, messing up their parents wedding tape.

The Sound of Animals Fighting – Horses In The Sky Lyrics 17 years ago
I think if you slow down the little clip at the begining, they are saying 'Masks on'. I did this a couple of months ago, so I'm not 100% sure that's what they were saying.

The Sound of Animals Fighting – St. Broadrick is in Antarctica Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the most amazing thing about this song (and whole album. And whole band) is that never once had they practiced before. I don't think they even recorded together. And, if my momory serves me correctly, there were no pre-written lyrics. The singers just listened to the music a few times, wrote down some notes, and just belted it out.

Husky Rescue – Summertime Cowboy Lyrics 17 years ago
Cowboys.... It's all about cowboys. Maybe a little bit about how cowboys are dissapearing because of cities and such, but it's mostly about how sexy cowboys are.

The Matches – Superman Lyrics 17 years ago
The best part of this song is the reference to Marine World. If you've ever lived in the bay area, or know someone that lived there about 20 years ago, you would know that it was the first marine park. It's been abandon for a long time, so I can't help but think that when it says that he went to marine world to try to think of what to say, he went to go think by himself, not on a date.

I know that doesn't cover a whole lot of the song, but it's still really brilliant. The Matches have so many inside jokes in their songs that only people from California would understand.

Circa Survive – Miracle Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is Miracle SUN, not son. A common mistake, but if you read the words it makes sense. This whole song is about the sun, not a girl, or a guy, or both.

Maybe Anthony is sacred of the dark...not really, but it's still a funny ideal.

Anthony Green – Jesus and the Sharp Electric Star Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is broken up into paragraphs and that's how it should be read. It seems like there is a space imbetween 'the woman in the lobby...' and 'in California', 'with a dirty, tired smile..' and 'the man next door, 'something really close...on' and 'when this whole thing started...'

If you make it that way, it is easier to understand. Maybe the woman in the lobby is in the lobby of a hospital, which would mean he (or someone else) had done something (overdosed?) on the things that were 5.99.

I think the whole thing with the California news anchors has to do with watching TV in the hospital room (if that is where it takes place).

The man next door could be in the hospital room next door, probably listening to the TV really loud.

The whole next part doesn't make much sense, but maybe has to do with realizing that things are worth living for. 'Jesus and the sharp electric star' makes no sense what so ever, maybe it just sounded cool.

This song made sense to me as soon as I heard it and maybe after reading this it'll make sense to other people. Maybe I'm just crazy.

Mae – Where The Falls Begin Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm not sure what it means, but I know why the name was picked. The keyboardist, Rob, said it reminded him of going on a long hike. When you get to the top, where the waterfall starts, you get a really great feeling. I guess he got this feeling listening to it.

It's a really great song, I love it alot. It reminds me of that feeling when you wake up in a really great song, and you wonder 'Was it really there?'.

Shiny Toy Guns – When They Came For Us Lyrics 17 years ago
Crying robots? Synthetic fighting? I don't think there is anything more to this than what the song spells out. Sometimes people try to hard to disect a song. Obviously these robots can show emotion, so it's really advanced technology. I'm pretty sure it's after humans have killed themselves and every other living thing, or maybe they are the ones that took the children.

The Matches – A Girl I know Lyrics 17 years ago
This song was on the Three-Way Record CD.

It's about a girl who underestimates herself. Guys love her, obviously she's pretty, but different. She's totaly clueless in the social scene, which makes her very vunerable.

The Matches – The Barber's Unhappiness Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about meeting a girl on the internet. She's younger then she said because she has 'cold sodas' meaning she can't have alcohol. They talk on the phone, but it's all fake because it's 'pre-calculated charm'. Once he meets her, he doesn't want to deal with this girl, it was all just a plan that didn't work out, like picking the rose. The relationship isn't going to work out, and he doesn't want to have to call her and break her heart. If he did that, he would have to explain about his fake-ness.

Kinda reminds me of something that happened to myslef.

Street To Nowhere – Leave The Cameras On Lyrics 17 years ago
Obviously, this is about how much police suck at controling riots. They act on words of other people, and pay no attention to what they see, or the message of the riot. Then the government clears everything up by saying how terrible the people involved in the riot were behaving.

I believe this line > "The warehouse docks and lockers all away" is really-"he warehouse docks and LOCK US all away"

Street To Nowhere – Boxcars Boxcars Boxcars Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, this song is about getting kicked out of a girlfriend's house. Once you're out you relize how the relationship won't ever work again and you have nowhere to go. 'You can't recreate the sound of home' is about how you're parent's wouldn't kick you out.

Just an ideal

Oh. My. How I love this song. It reflects all the worries of today, and then goes on and talks about the wish of everything being better. In the last verse it seems like he opens Uncle Sam's eyes to all the problems in the world.

Mae – This Time Is The Last Time Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is not about living life because you can only do it once. It's actually all about it being the last time that you have to deal with an anoying person. This is what it means to the band (I heard it from Dave). To me, it means something different. It's about moving foward, and forgiving people because if they truely are your friend, it's the last time that they will mess up and hurt you.
