Paramore – All I Wanted Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Another thing I wanted to add. The line when she sings "Well, it's a shame I'm a dream". I find this to be really interesting and relatable to so many people. Like this person was everything and you were everything to them and now that they've probably moved on, everything that you once had with this person is a "dream"...almost like it never happened. So sad. |
Paramore – All I Wanted Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Wow. Just wow. This song is haunting. The chorus espceially. Even though she's saying the same thing over and over again, it really drives the point home. The meaning is obvious. Someone who was there for her isn't there anymore. This is her thinking about the good times they had and how "all she wanted was you." I feel like I really relate to this song because this guy I was with for almost a year broke it off about a month ago. Even though I try to move on, I can't help but think about the times we had. Great song by Paramore. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Cath... Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i agree with basically most of the comments... "your heart was dying fast and you didn't know what to do (i'd have done the same as you)" --like they felt lonely (who hasn't?) so they reached out for whatever they thought would make them happy. and he's saying what she did is understandable (i'd have done the same as you). it's obvious that she's settling (you closed the door/ on so many men who would have loved you more) it's a sad song but i definitely understand the feeling...settling because you think it'll make you happy. luckly i realized that i could do so much better but in "Cath's" case and like many like her, they never will. great song. |
Alien Ant Farm – These Days (truANT) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i see this as being a love/hate relationship. he thinks she's "great" but at the same time they are "playing all these games and I wonder who's to blame it." it seems like he's asking himself if he should still be with this person although they don't get along. (the whole "positive and negative" thing) like he likes her physically (the whole working each other) but their relatonship is this whole "well i like you sometimes..." i'm alluding to the title of the song. |
Imogen Heap – Goodnight and Go Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i mean who hasn't done semi-stalkerish things when they really like someone? i know with the guy i like, i like to hang out with him whenever i can just because being around him makes me feel awesome. now i wouldn't follow him around persay...but haven't you ever "accidently" walked past the room they were in or walked a different way in the chance you'll "accidently" bump into them? but i agree...she questions why she likes him. ("why'd you have to be so cute?") but there are certain things about the person that she really likes...i see her reasons for liking him as kinda unexplainable except for the fact that they are good friends and he makes her laugh. at the end she pictures them together...again who hasn't done that with someone they really like. she glorifies the moment this happens ("miss the train..."). the moment when all her dreams about them being together finally becomes a reality. great song, meaningful lyrics...i can definitely relate to them right now. :( |
Katharine Mcphee – Over It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
lol this is exactly what i'm going through right now, word for word. i was friends with benefits for this guy for awhile. it was this way because he said he didn't want a relationship with anyone his first year of college. i began to fall for him and we ended up stopping because of it. a couple of months later, he randomly meets this girl and now she is his gf. he now tries to be buddy buddy with me...invited me to parties that she's at just so i see them sitting close and all over each other. he keeps hurting my feelings but i see...a friend, someone who really cares wouldn't put a person through that. he says that he's my friend but a friend wouldn't do that. i'm so over it. :D wonderful song. |
Tegan and Sara – And Darling (This Thing That Breaks My Heart) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I see it as this person wishes that their partner (or whoever they want) would be the person that they want them to be and do the things they want them to. And them not doing these things "breaks my heart". I'm in that situation now...there's a guy that I like and he likes me too but he doesn't want to commit. So he goes around doing whatever he wants to do and hurts me. He doesn't do it on purpose and he probably has no clue it hurts me. I want him to be and act a certain way and I know he won't. That truly breaks my heart. |
Say Anything – Shiksa (Girlfriend) (feat. Caithlin De Marrais) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Is it just me or is he saying "even if you suck me until i'm sore"? I wouldn't put it past them because almost all their songs have a sexual reference in them. But the song is pretty self explainitory. I really like it. Can't wait until the new album. |
Fall Out Boy – Thnks fr th Mmrs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think the song is about being in a casual relationship. these people break up but end up back together...sexually anyways. one of the persons involved is with someone else (he tastes like you only sweeter) but they keep coming back to the other person (one night, one more time). the beginning is them having a fight; each insulting the other. (who does he think he is/ if that's the worse you've got better put your fingers back to the key.) great song. |
Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I see it as a relationship that went bad and is still in limbo (confusion is nothing new) but no matter what she'll always be there for him. But at the same time, the guy sees that he's holding her back (if you watch the actual video for this song, she's about to board a train with the man she's with but he hesitates and tells her to go on with out him). So perhaps this is why it ended...he felt as if he was holding her back and therefore she'd "fall behind". So while she is saying how she'll always be there for him, they're both reflecting on how the other person is doing. |
Coheed and Cambria – The Running Free Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it sounds like someone is dying. the song has kinda has a glorious, heroic sound to it. perhaps claudio the character has met his end or maybe this is a song in which he battles deftinwolf himself. ('Cause you're going home You're running free As only you will be But you never told us anything And now, you’ve found you’re way out And it was hard to see) ...it's like a someone is hurting him and his way out is by dying. can't wait until october. |
Tegan and Sara – Back in Your Head Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this reminds me so much of my last relationship. everything started out new and fresh as it's supposed to but after a while i lost interest. everything became old. his words, the things he did. it felt as we were on repeat. i never cheated on him (i'm not unfaithful) but i did let our relationship take a back seat to less important things (but i'll stray). perhaps it was because i was scared or naiive. |
The Offspring – Want You Bad Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Haha, that's a nice play on words. I want you bad. |
The Offspring – Want You Bad Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The meaning is obvious. A guy wants a girl that doesn't seem to get how much he wants her. But he wants her in every form...emotionally AND sexually. This reminds me of my situation right now. I went to prom with this this guy that I really like. I heard he likes me too but the problem is we're graduating in a couple of weeks and going to college here while I'm going to school kinda far away. Now things between us are just awkward because I like him a lot but idk if he knows. |
Feist – Let It Die Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is exactly how i feel about my ex that i'm having trouble letting go of. brilliant. |

Bright Eyes – It's Cool, We Can Still Be Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is the story of my life right now. my ex ended our relationship about a month ago and he wants to be friends. we talked today and he was talking about hanging out and going to coffee together and he tried to call me by the pet name he had for me when we were together and expected me to do the same. i really care about him but even the thought of seeing him with someone else is painful. so the song raises the question: can former lovers truly be friends? maybe...but it's going to hurt really bad. :( and for conor...it sounds like complete torture. |
Gwen Stefani – Wind It Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is totally about sex. The words...even the title 'Wind It Up'...a sexual position. While it's annoying at times it's a great song to dance to when you're sitting at home alone and bored. Yet again GS has hit us with a totally annoying song that slowly grows on you. |
Imogen Heap – Headlock Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with jinx. I see it as someone wanting to get into a relationship with another person but that person is holding back from having that relationship with the other for one reason or another. That was the case with my now ex and I. He wasn't quite sure at first if he wanted to be with me because of past relationships and even in our relationship there was a constant struggle between his past and our future. |
Janet Jackson – Doesn't Really Matter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i just started a relationship with my best guy friend but i can't help the feeling that he questions why i like him so much. he's even asked me to rate him on attractiveness. i keep telling him that i care more for his personality than his looks but he doesn't seem to get it. while i think physical attraction is key to a good relationship, i just wish it wasn't so important to him. but when i remember this song i think "finally, someone who sings about it's not what you look like but your heart." My love for him isn't based on appearance but it's so hard to get him to see that. |
Cartel – Honestly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah, i definitely agree that it's about telling someone how you feel about them and how he wants the other person to be "honest" with their feelings (You tell me what you think about being open.) and it's obvious that this girl is leaving (Now you know why I'm begging you to stay). and also how this feeling for her isn't something he can just give up. (I know I cant, I could never walk away) |
Taking Back Sunday – My Blue Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i was just thinking about the lyrics "double standardized suspicion" and it made me think about how there is different standards for when guys cheat and when girls cheat. i think that's what he's talking about when he says this. i remember that someone mentioned earlier that she was cheating and he wanted to wait for her. but if he was cheating, wouldn't the first instinct be for her to leave him? he has grown suspicious with her actions and decides to do something about it (...is remedied, oh my blue heaven!) and in doing so, he decides to just give in to her (somethimes it just feels better to give in) believing that she would be best suited with him rather than this other person (you're safe child, you are safe)(he is saying this in his head). and he feels that he's fighting for her affection from this other person (we swing and we sway...) |
