Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 16 years ago
Actually, Danny Carey has said that the figure in this song is L. Ron Hubbard. So, say what you want about it because all music is open to interpretation, but their intention was L. Ron Hubbard.

Arcade Fire – Neon Bible Lyrics 16 years ago
I really like how Arcade Fire's lyrics can mean many things to different people, but I have an interpretation also.

The term "Neon Bible", although Win Butler said that he just likes the image of a physical "Neon Bible", brings about this image of a bastardization of the two most loved things in American society: religion and capitalism. The image of a neon sign depicting a Bible makes me feel as if we are "whoring" God to make a profit.

For example, we sell our religion like no one else on the planet. Ironically, we also use money as if it were our religion, hence the line, "In the light of a golden calf."

At the Drive-In – Pattern Against User Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song has to do with an essence of "carpe diem". The sarcastic attack against the aged and the paranoia of the ticking clock shows us that we need to use our youth while we still can. Time waits for no man.

Incubus – Light Grenades Lyrics 17 years ago
Man, I didn't know this was gonna be a Green Day Bash page. Umm, I don't think it really matters if Green Day was on their minds or whatever. You can like different sounds at the same time. For example, I love both The Roots and Green Day, along with Incubus. You just have to look at music with an open mind, which I think Incubus would want people to do.

That aside, this song is really good, because it reminds me of their old funk-metal. However, the album in general is NOTHING like their old stuff. Boyd's singing is still very good, but Einzinger is sounding very panicky. The production value is poor compared to Morning View, and the themes compete against each other time and time again, and left me very mixed.

Kanye West – Diamonds from Sierra Leone Lyrics 17 years ago
First of all, I would like to say that I am a huge Kanye fan, even though I don't condone a few of songs. I can, somehow, defend this one, however.

How many of you here hate 50 Cent and Ludacris because they're not keepin' true to their roots? I'd say quite a few, from the way you guys are talking. Well, Kanye's kind of just giving you what you want here, by talking about how they don't have the passion that he has. And you agree with that, and you know it.

Second, Kanye at the time he wrote this, was an underrated rapper with the only single on his resume was "Jesus Walks". He had been an amazing producer with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys in his credit, yet he still didn't have his name out there, because he was not credited as a rapper, yet.

He's a bit egotistical, yes, but he is truly giving a message here, that your dream is what matters, not how people write you off, and he's showing it to these guys that did write him off. It's kind of like how Bugs Bunny kisses Elmer Fudd, cuz it's the one thing that pisses fudd off.

Common – Testify Lyrics 17 years ago
It's hard to hear Common's voice over the sample, sounds like he's competing with it. But anyways, Common is one of the most thoughtful emcee's today, next to Mos Def and Talib Kweli.

The White Stripes – The Union Forever Lyrics 17 years ago
If you listen to the riff, it sounds very much like the beginning of the film's opening suite. Very creepy and dank. Remember, "Rosebud".
