Kashmir – Mudbath Lyrics 11 years ago
cytoid means cell like. im guessing the song is about cancer growing in a man and him being slightly aware but not wanting to acknowledge it. the feast in his lungs is the cancer eating away. so he has probably smoked alot. the mud bath im not sure of. maybe hes taking a mud bath in hopes of curing himself. he is trying to choke the life out of the cancer, or maybe himself. might he be trying to kill himself?

Kashmir – She's Made of Chalk Lyrics 11 years ago
i generally agree. on the other hand one could interpret the song as an ironic comment on the party-goers, what kirkegaard would call the asthethics. these people have seen the darkness, the eternal sad tone ringing out, but chose to look the other way and lose themselves in debauchery

Kashmir – Snowman Lyrics 11 years ago
this is so simple and yet so sad. i am reminded of a nursery rhyme about a certain mr. frost and miss thaw, who end destroying each other. i think we all feel sympathy with the snowman who smiles but always with the foreboding knowledge that he will perish before seeing summer.

Kashmir – Still Boy Lyrics 11 years ago
well my interpretation is probably more than a little affected by the music video accompanying the single. No the less i will try to keep it out of my analyses and focus on the lyrics in themselves. i think the chorus of is the most telling part of the song. its about a boy waiting for something to come and save him. he is holding his breath, he is afraid, but he is also impatient. he cant wait forever for his saviour, so he eventually waves. he cries out for someone to come for him. he just want to feel alive. in a way he wants to not feel still anymore. but that is the crux. this is the terrible irony of the story. just in the moment he reaches out he is punished and devoured by the wolves, ready to devour everything. the man is just as desperate as the boy but he is too late. really this scene illustrates broken love. love broken not by people but by the circumstances and the times. right place, wrong time. my favourite lines of the song are: "like the chicken needs the fox/and the daylight/longs for the dark/I excuse myself to go and make my/mark. im not quite sure what the implications of these lines are. maybe that the world needs victims and perpetrators. we need the both the good and the bad. maybe the good is not good inspite but because of the bad. this mark of the narrator must be something he is not proud of, something that may shame the memory of the boy, but is still neccesary. might the narrator be a wolf himself?

Kashmir – The New Gold Lyrics 11 years ago
once again kasper Eistrup impresses with his craftsmanship in writing. kasper has some sort of avertion to urban and suburban. for him the city equals degeneration and filth, but the suburbs are really no different. in a way they are worse, seeing as they cover up their secrets (think lampshade for example). under the pristine gardens the same worms gnaw at the innocents flowers. in a sense Eistrup betrays a very traditional conception of gender. The girl and woman are the innocents being corrupted by powerful, but also and for that reason sad and pitiable men (think make it grand). the girls glow with love but the men slowly drain them and they end up woman both eager and dead. in this case the woman is eager for comfort and intimacy but also dead tired and worn out, not having enough mental ressources to make realize her dreams. but intimacy has been replaced by alcohol and sleep at 5, and ocationally the extramarital affair. this is what the line of 200 lovers refers to. this mentality this way of life is unstable and it seems the people are aware of it themselves. they scan the headlines looking for the revolution. maybe looking for the reflection of the fire they themselves have started by leaving their coals behind with closed eyes. they feel safe behind their bush with the new gold and can watch the grim reaper's trail of destruction from afar.

Kashmir – The Push Lyrics 11 years ago
i think you hit the nail on the head. this is really the anxiety of modernism, it seems to parallel kafka's stories of alienation in the city. there are some beautiful lines in this song. my favourite is "my love will always be /of vibrant and dense traffic music/ that fills me up when nothing is expected. i agree he wants to leave the city but realises it is impossible. In a sense all his desire has been reduced by the city and can now only be found in the incessant noise of traffic. maybe the dead quiet has become frightening in itself, seeing that it opens the possibility of realising the meaningless of urban life. i like the reference to world war as well. it really seems kasper eistrup has stepped into the shoes of the average citizen post-world war I, maybe under the great depression?

Kashmir – The Curse of Being a Girl Lyrics 11 years ago
i guess this song is pretty self-explanatory until midway through. what makes the first verses so extradinary is the quite conflicting and still connected metaphors and the way they grasp what being and girl and growing up is about. being a guy, i can completely identify with this eponymous girl. i am guessing kasper eistrup must have felt the same, or else he wouldnt have been able to write such strong lyrics. the allusion to the worlds most tired man are more cryptic i am guessing he is a worn out and pitiable and he picks up the girl in an attempt to find some love. but for him love equals drug dens and concubines which is where he takes, and the girl knows she just doesnt belong here. she is no prostitute and she deserves much better. but then she realises that every other girl goes through just the same as her. to make the make, to metamorphasize and emerge a woman takes character and will to not buckle under the pressure and succumb to the sleaze and degeneration

Kashmir – The Story Of Jamie Fame Flame Lyrics 11 years ago
the singing with ones nose is for me an allusion to drug abuse. i think it ties in well with wizard if we interpret him as a man of mysticism introducing the main character to the occult which starts with the drug induced trance and its associated speculations on right and wrong and then ends in the cave where it seems a congregation is situated. maybe they commit mass suicide?

Kashmir – Zitilites Lyrics 11 years ago
indeed. though its dark im not sure its prostitution. i think its about dirty sex, what that implies im not sure. maybe a guy finding the girl and taking advantage her, then assuring her that he wont die for her. its just how things are done in the city. its a wholesale in a way, everything is up for grabs and nothing sacred anymore. everything is cheap and the girl has accepted and she has adjusted. she has taken on the patience required in this neighbourhood

Kashmir – Mom In Love, Daddy In Space Lyrics 11 years ago
wow i cant believe no more people have commented on these amazing lyrics. im going to start out on a more general note. this song is about widow who has lost the love of her life. he has gone up into space but she is still stuck with her feelings of love, guarding these feeling with her defense of porcelain cats by the window. basically she's just sitting at home wasting away, not allowing anybody to get close to her. she's angry at the world and wants no sould or happy go lucky beach boy records. but nonetheless we should show her some respect, because she's got nothing left. she's all worn out.

whats really special about this song is the fact that it perfectly describes my relationship with my ex. she had lost a her long time boyfriend and was left with a infant daughter. She herself made me aware of this, and so it was kind of our theme song. the thematic implications only became more noticably as our relationship evolved and she slowly grew tired of me. she could get over her boyfriend after all and all she had left in the end was hate. but at no point did i hold this against her, because i knew that she was indeed all worn out. she had had a troubled childhood and her first boyfriend had been the only thing connecting her to the world, now her daughter had taken over this role but it was only by a miracle that she was clinging to life. i feel the song is adressing me aswell i really felt she was my sun and pain at the same time and i did initially feel wounded but with time my holes did fill :)

i think it about a guy meeting up and falling in love with a maneater. she's only stringing him along and he eventually realises this but its all the same. he's a doomed sailor like all the rest who have ever sailed her waters

im seeing a crummy bar where the protagonist is getting angry glances from drug fiends lining the walls, but then he doesn't really care because he has a girl by his side and he just wants to dance the night away.

Kashmir – Intruder Lyrics 11 years ago
im going to go out on a limb a say that the intruder is death. i don't think its neccesary to elaborate the lyrics really speak for themselves. whats really interesting is the second person being adressed. i do not know why but im seeing a girl who is really desperate to cling to life, and that is not just material life but a spiritual life, that is a meaningful life. a life filled with life! this girl is visiting her boyfriend or maybe just a guy she likes. this is not the best guy, probably he's not a very nice guy, but she's desperate and shell take anything. she's an open store because all her defenses are down, and inside all is empty because she has nothing left, but she's hoping this guy can fill her with something.

Kashmir – In The Sand Lyrics 11 years ago
this is such a beautiful song, not just because of the melody. The lyrics are in themselves a treat. here's my take on em. the man and woman have had a fling, a short affair. the man is really hooked but the girl is restless. she is not ready to settle. she's to passionate like the roaring sea. the man is on the contrarary still and stuck, he is slowly drowning in the sinking sand. he is the man who has found the love of his life and being left he is not able to move on. the woman is no different in the end. she roams wide, but she is not able to forget the man. she takes to drinking but its no good. she's is wayward because the road home is gone. the man is her home but she has lost him for good she realises. and then with nothing left she chooses to end her life, like none of it was real

Kashmir – Graceland Lyrics 11 years ago
that, and maybe the story of a man who can't escape his meaningless life no matter how many vacations abroad he goes on. he can never really grow that tan and become the southern man, free from inhibitions and responsibilities

Kashmir – Melpomene Lyrics 11 years ago
i disagree i do not think the girl is aware of what she is doing. i think the chorus makes this plain enough: "she's so unaware she's my melpomene", melpomene being the greek goddess of tragedy. also he explicitly says she's break the code "without intentions".

Kashmir – Make It Grand Lyrics 11 years ago
i could not agree more sandino. it seems the good life is a sort of concept album telling the tragedies of "the good life", that is the tragedies of the average household which are most often overlooked and not talked about. i think the lady in question is experiencing a midlife crisis which might be verging on depression. she has grown bored of being a housewife but her low self-esteem is keeping her at home, close by the wine bottle

Kashmir – Lampshade Lyrics 11 years ago
i agree the sound is obviously about incest, but there seems to be some lines that have still to be made sense of. how does the dog, the girl and the boy fit into the picture? and what about the nova/star in the first verse? also after the break it seems a new point view is introduced, like the narrator is now closer to the pedophile. the dog tied to his chain is probably an allusion to the aforementioned man and the lampshade is the cover hes been hiding behind. but what is the light hidden away behind the curduroy then? light is most often associated with enlightement and the divine. maybe the choking is supposed to symbolize how his secret are tearing the man apart. though why the narrator would use the first person in this instance i cannot guess. i agree with mmxxzzzz that there is a slight sense of sympathy with the pedophile and the way he is wasting away because of his secrets, but at the same time the chorus states asks "not to show us how you sweat", this would imply that the narrator is not really interested in the pedophiles horrible secrets. or maybe the narrator is highlighting the mentality of the general public who prefer to ignore what goes on under the surface of the suburbs.

Kashmir – Gorgeous Lyrics 11 years ago
makes sense that it should be about his friend who was suffering from cancer, but i believe it is a general comment on life and death aswell. i think the first makes this plain. it seems he's asking or seeking an answer to the corruption and decay in modern wellfare society embodied by the junkies left to themselves on the playground. I especially like the last line of the verse where it seems he's implying how we prosper off the death of the damned.
