Atreyu – Lead Sails (And a Paper Anchor) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
So anyways, back to the actual meaning of the song. The song is about touring. October 2007 Revolver mag: "The singer explains that 'Lead Sails (And a Paper Anchor),' the closing ballad that gives the album its name, is 'about being detached from home. Think about a ship with lead sails and a paper anchor - not only does it not work, it doesn't make sense. And to me, those are the feelings I have about touring. You feel detached, like you don't have an anchor, and you're just floating around the world for a couple of months.'" |
Charon – Sister Misery Lyrics | 16 years ago |
First off, this is a great song! I think it's about sacrificing all of you have for love. And I also think the first chorus goes: Take me tonight Sing our sorrow song Die, sister, die For love |
Deathstars – Cyanide Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think SoulRapist has the main idea of the song. I considered the whole Nazi thing after seeing the video the first time. After the second time, I realized that Nazi uniforms didn't look like that. He had a gold star on his hat which was the Russian uniform back then. I just think he's kind of "leading" them all to commit suicide because this world is getting ridiculously horrible. This is the hand, etc... (the "leader" helping them get to the point of suicide) So face the dark (kill yourself) and I'll teach you about fire (power in the afterlife, maybe) in the blink of an eye. The worlds collide (the living and dead) and you know it's pure filth that I hide. On these plains, etc... (find the will to kill yourself) You run for the borders where epistles burn in the arms of man (men don't appreciate what they should anymore and ruin everything) You run among bodies and they scream, they scream to bite God’s hand [people are becoming disobedient (biting the hand that feeds you)] When the dark does, etc... (being dead is better than being alive) That's just how I see it though. Wish I could know what it really is about. =/ |
The 69 Eyes – Brandon Lee Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Actually, according to Jyrki himself, the song isn't really about Brandon Lee. Here's a quote from an interview: "the lyrics are not about Brandon Lee at all, it's about all of us, and how life throws us around" And it's a great song. One of Jyrki's favorites too. |
HIM – The Phantom Gate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"There are things you should know Distance between us grow Oh how easy it would be to let go" "I’m losing my faith in you You don’t want it to be true There’s nothing you can do There’s nothing you can do" Those two verses are in "Your Sweet Six Six Six" but the meaning seems opposite to those of that song. I think the meaning would be that they're starting to lose interest in each other and he actually wants to let go of the relationship. |
HIM – Too Happy To Be Alive Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"We fear for the best, and hope for the worst" "What love’s life’s blessed, love’s life’s cursed" Some form of those two quotes are in "Death Is In Love With Us" so I think that the meaning of the song should be somewhere close to the meaning in "Death Is In Love With Us." Either that or the same meaning as "Join Me In Death." |
