Third Eye Blind – Losing a Whole Year Lyrics 18 years ago
WHOA....
Yeah I kind of find it strange that so many people went off on how this song reminds them of the Great Gatsby! You can think what you like, but I really don't agree. i think it was just about a year relationship that just kinda simmered off and the girl was a rich girl who had issues and then decided she wanted to do more with her life. In turn, he felt used- " We used to spend the whole goddamned day in bed"> and now its not that way because things have changed and the original excitment is over for her.
I have been listenign to this song sooo much recently, and its always in my head. I can't help but relate to it when thinking of the relationship I'm in right now.

"It always seems the juice used to flow
In the car, in the kitchem you were good to go
Now we're stuck with the tube
A sink full of dishes and some aqua Lube"> I believe this is sexual in ways- as in the juice used to flow and how the girl used to be 'good to go' and have sex...but now they are stuck with routine boredum and aque lube- meaning they need the lubricant to have sex as in its more forced. All in all the lyrics to this song are awesome and the emotion put into it is in incredible!

Billy Idol – Eyes Without A Face Lyrics 18 years ago
A GREAT song.....
"It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release"
SO true, and in this song he must be talking about 'her' love dieing and how it hurts him and it can be easy to act like the love is still there or even be sexual but you still can't get over the love being gone (can't feel relief from the pain of the emotional death).

"Now all I can do
Is love what was once
So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realize"- the love kind of died and she is not the same person to him now.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dosed Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song can be misinterpreted and thought to be just about drugs...
But I feel it is just such a deep and sweet song that he really is talking about someone (whether their relationship had to do with drugs or not). In this way he was 'dosed' by the person as addicted to them and the love they had.
I absolutely love this song!
"Climb onto you seahorse, show love with no remorse
This is the way I wanted it to be with you
This is the way I knew that it would be with you"
-He was used to her and the idea of loving without regrets or the thought of remorse, and its the way he knew. It is hard to change the thing you want when you have had it in your life for a certain amount of time- it just becomes what you know and possibly love.

Taking Back Sunday – Great Romances of the 20th Century Lyrics 18 years ago
lol like a year ago I put TBS songs on my bf's computer and I remember this song would play randomly (I mean it is one of my absolute favorites by TBS- I'm glad its so popular cuz it really is amazing!) But that intro would play and we would both think it was so corny lol.... I just think the rest of the song has more substance.

I would really relate to this song because I used to get myself into relationships where I was just getting used and hiding the way I really felt- kinda then turning to the sex and 'lets just get this over with'- and where as someoen said, it means so much to ne person but nothing to the other- or they just don't show it either. Very emotional.

Taking Back Sunday – ...Slowdance on the Inside Lyrics 18 years ago
"Cause a long night means a fist fight against your pillow and my pearly whites. I want to hear you scream, you liked me better on my knees..."

I read earlier that that could definatley be a sexual reference- and I definately see that with pearly whites/pillow...yeah lol But if adam did fuck john's sister then maybe john was just writing some of the song from his sister's point of view if adam was a jerk about the relationship later. Hey you never know...and then with the emotions he felt and compassion for his siter he came up with this song along with his own personal resentment. I love the emotion in this song, none-theless. I can't help but relate to every song on the album even if they might have meant for something totally different.:-P

Franz Ferdinand – Fade Together Lyrics 18 years ago
ITs just about how hard it is to get over a deep relationship
"once you have loved someone this much
you doubt it could fade
despite how much you'd like it to"
And since it's so hard he finds himself beign reminded of the love and thinking it would be easier with her- so its pretty bitter sweet.
I find a lot of this album is about how its hard moving on because when you feel strongly for someone it just doesn't go away - even if you'd want to sleep it off (sleep references and drug references in many of hte songs) and no matter how you WISH the fading of previous emotions would be easier.

Franz Ferdinand – Well, That Was Easy Lyrics 18 years ago
yeah, I consider the line 'clean your filth off your phone dial" actually pretty cool. I kind of think of it as maybe the dial is dirty from his ex gf using the phone along with him (being an ex who left her) and she wanted to forget him too- or get rid of the last trace of him. And think about it, if you hold a phone up to your face (especially old regular phone with cords) your germs go there and it is pretty gross the more people will use a phone and breathe into it or dial on it. THe rest of the verse does kind of give the image of her 'swallowing the thing syour finger picked up" is like her putting her fingers in her mouth- when I think lot sof people have that habit. I think its almost a silly but insightful part of hte song- almost makes it.

The Dandy Warhols – Horse Pills Lyrics 18 years ago
"Sometimes you feel like Moses, that's when you're toasted."
Basically...when the rich/stuck-up and f*d up on some sorta drugs think more highly about themselves then they should. And when it all gets to their head then yeah, that's when they are pretty much toasted/on some drugs:-P. You know its so easy gettting prescription drugs if you got the money or the connections- ;).

Franz Ferdinand – Walk Away Lyrics 18 years ago
I got this c.d. today and this is the one song I've played over and over and over...
It is just so catchy- and not only really 'serious' but I think pretty bitter-sweet.
"I love the sound of you walking away, walking away" is repeated but in an emotional way...while he lists out how the world will still keep going around even if his gf walks away/leaves. I feel he wants to end the relationship for whatever reasons but at the same time its painful but his pride makes him say that he LOVEs the sound of her walking away- but really its going to be something different and hard to deal with. The last lines are genius :
"The stab of stilettos
On a silent night
Stalin smiles and Hitler laughs
Churchill claps Mao Tse-Tung on the back "
And what its describing, I feel, is when she is walking away her stilettos are "stabbing" the ground basically, because heels are pretty loud on hard ground on a 'silent night.' And for him, if he is actually breaking up with her, that last moment of seeing her is more bitter sweet and will mark the end of their relationship forever- if his will is strong enough. Stalin and Hitler are deceased and were responsible when alive for many deaths- which in a time of war can have its ups and downs- but in the end its still a death- like the death of his relationship. And if they are smiling and laughing it can make them seem more 'evil' almost, or the whole situation seem even more bittersweet.

I feel maybe the gf even wanted to leave but he allows her to leave in the end (as the song suggests) and in a sarcastic way is wondering like 'WHy don't you walk away? I LOVE the sound of you walking away."

GREAT SONG>

Third Eye Blind – God of Wine Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is an absolutely amazing song, and I can listen to the c.d. its on soo many times- one of my most over-played.

I think people (no offense of coarse) will try and relate teb songs to relationships gone bad because its something most ppl can more readily relate to. And there is so much emotion put into the songs you can't help but get absorbed and feel SOMETHING.

There is just so much to say about this song...
but suchprettywords brought up the sirens parts f the song 'And the siren's song that is your madness
Holds a truth I can't erase
All alone on your face " which convinces me more or less that this song has something to do with someone close to him who he cared about and almost couldn't help it like rumored sirens would lure people in' and this siren's song was madness- and the siren being the girl. haha confusing. But I could totally see that.

No matter what, this song gets me everytime....

Franz Ferdinand – Outsiders Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is one of the best songs on the cd...and lyrically very insightful. There is a lot of play on words and themes to me. When it goes " Its bright on the outside, THe bright love the dark side" the bright means even the people who are considered happy or in love still go to the dark side. AT the end of the song where he says " When you saw me sleeping you thought I was dreaming of you - I didn't tell you that the only dream is Valium for me" I feel it kind of relates to the dark side. When you are sleeping everything is dark and Valium is a drug thta will knock you out completely. And really people tend to go to the darkness to find some rest or forget. This all then ties into how ' love'll die lovers fade But you still remain there Squeezing in your fingers What it means for me to be"...as in things in life may change but it doesn't mean you have still coped with them. In part of the song he refers to a CAmille and asks "In seventeen years will you still be Camille..." which I think just goes along with times changing but still feeling like your an outsider to what goes on in the real world when "All I see is now all that I've seen."

Interestingly enough, Maybe its just me...But I hear at the very end of the c.d. at the very end of this song it sounds like a voice fades out (electronically) which seems to repeat "falling asleep, falling asleep"...as if sleeping or being on the dark side is all someone feels they can do to cope sometimes.

That's my take:-P
