Bob Dylan – 4th Time Around Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's just about a relationship. The man has given her all he could give down to his last stick of gum. Since he has nothing left, she kicks him out. When he goes to get his shirt he sees a picture of her in a wheelchair. I don't think she's crippled because he says "he tried to make sense" of it. I think it's there to remind her that she needs someone to hold her up and give her control of the relationship or else she's "crippled." Then, I think at the end the narrator leaves her and starts another relationship with someone else and tells her that that instead of having one person being the "crutch" supporting someone that they should both stand up together and not have roles. This migth be wrong because Dylan messes with different narrative views a lot is his songs.

As far as "Norwegian Wood," it definitely sounds a lot like it and probably Dylan's way of "stealing" a song that the Beatles "stole" off of him and still writing a great song inside of it. I don't think it's a parady but Dylan's such a genius that he could do about 20 things in one song. Someone commented about the title "4th Time Around" being the 4th song the Beatles "stole" from Dylan's style and that seems plausible.

The Velvet Underground – Over You Lyrics 18 years ago
Just a good old-fashioned rock n roll song. I'm pretty sure this never got recorded in the studio. The only place I know it to be available is on the live album "1969 Vol. 2" Shame because it's when of their best songs.

The Velvet Underground – I Heard Her Call My Name Lyrics 18 years ago
"And my mind split open..." Then it really does split the listener's mind open with the craziest solo ever recorded. Lou does not get enough credit as a guitarist.

MC5 – Kick Out The Jams Lyrics 18 years ago
I watched a documentary on Parliament-Funkadelic and Wayne Kramer (the guitarist for MC5) said that back in '68 or '69 in Detroit you could see MC5, The Stooges and Funkadelic at the same place in one night. That would be my bet for the best show ever.

One of the best opening lines to a song ever. It's up there with "HELP!" Once you hear it, how can you not listen?

Elvis Presley – Jailhouse Rock Lyrics 18 years ago
There could of been a girl inmate. Lol. I think it was a kinda of joke by the writers. If say a little kid asked "Why did he say that guy was cute?" There parents could say "......It was girl." This was the '50's anyway and nobody was gay. At least they didn't tell anybody. Anyway..........

The band the Purple Gang ("Granny Takes A Trip") got their name from this song. And if you want a GREAT cover of this check out The Residents' version. It's definitely different.

Sonic Youth – Little Trouble Girl Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about a woman who taught her daughter to be a sterotypical housewife. Always putting on make-up and looking pretty for men. Then, she fell in love with a guy and the mother-daughter relationship faded away. Such an amzing song. "Washing Machine" is SY's best.

Sonic Youth – Kool Thing Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's sad that this song is about oppression and subjection of women but the whole time I keep thinking how hot Kim sounds. : ( I agree with everything she says but.......God. I'm an idiot.

Sonic Youth – Swimsuit Issue Lyrics 18 years ago
I think at the end Kim is either saying "Us woman" or "I'm swimming." I can't tell but that is the point 'cause Sonic Youth is one of the best bands ever. Even better than (dare I say it) Nirvana. Gasp! Actually I love Nirvana but Sonic Youth is so amazingly underrated.

John Lennon – Nobody Told Me Lyrics 18 years ago
I know everyone always makes post that say this but I can't believe nobody's posted on this song. Right now it's actually December 9th and yesterday it was the 25th anniversary of John's death. They played this song on the radio and it just absolutely blew my mind. I had forgotten all about it. It was like it was meant to happen. Usually on the 8th I listen to John's happier somewhat sillier stuff. It's gets me out of the sad mood thinking about him puts me in on this day. It's a great contrast to his very serious songs. That stuff is absolutely genius but it's nice to think about him in a happier light.

Anyway, I think this song's about how people believe in things but never really do anything about it. They don't try to change it just try to live with it. Or it could just be a silly song John wrote. I'd kinda prefer the latter. "They're starving back in China so finish what you got." Lol.

The Beatles – Act Naturally (Buck Owens cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
Ringo is definitely the man. It's a real shame he doesn't get the credit he deserves. The Beatles, whether you want to believe it or not, would have been much different without him.

Radiohead – A Wolf at the Door (It Girl. Rag Doll) Lyrics 18 years ago
Love this song. I think Radiohead is the only band that can put a lyric like "flan in the face" on a song that still makes you sad. I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack but I think the riff sounds a lot like the riff from Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain."

David Bowie – Quicksand Lyrics 18 years ago
Definitely. Such a great song. When I saw Bowie a few years ago, he did this and a few bars into couldn't remember the words. And he just said ".....I blanked out. Lock the doors! Nobody leaves 'til I get this right!" He finally did do it and it was brillant.

David Bowie – TVC 15 Lyrics 18 years ago
I think Bowie got the number TVC15 from a television production company in New York or something like that. Anyway, for my money it's Bowie's best songs and one of the best ever. How could you not be happy listening to this?

Bob Dylan – Shelter from the Storm Lyrics 18 years ago
This song was used in a commercial a few years back for the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) I believe, although it could have been another animal organization. They played some of the song while showing animals helping each other get out of the rain hence the song's use. I thought it was a cool use of the song.
