Sheesh...stop flooding the freakin' board with irrelevant subjects! It's about your interpretation of the song, 'Hands Down' by DC. So who cares if they suck or not! This is songmeanings.net FYI! ANYWAYS, My favorite line is "My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury or wear as jewelery, which ever you prefer" --->>> He's really depicting what kind of 'love' he has for the girl. What's so feel-good about this song is the fact that it's such an innocent clean song. It's not about SEX!!! It's just about kiss but it justifies how KISSING is so passionate, strong, full of bliss...especially if you're young! This song is great when you're reminiscing your FIRST GENUINE KISS with someone you've really strongly liked. |

Sheesh, how can he be gay and fall in love with a woman??? Anyways, he probably got drunk or on drugs and wanted to kiss someone...I mean come on now, it was just a kiss! But this was his first time! And who did he happen to have kissed? ---viola--- HIS BESTFRIEND'S GIRLFRIEND! My other interpretation though, is that what 'CAGE' really meant was the jealousy state he was in before! He has to get out of being a ridiculously jealous guy so he can "have it all" -> his bestfriend and later on, the bestfriend's girlfriend. Then he (singer) goes on with the story: "It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss It was only a kiss" --->>> He keeps repeating to himself that it was just a kiss and that he didn't expect to fall in love with his bestfriend's girlfriend! Like he can't believe what just happened! He didn't plan this to happen! He can't have her since she's his bestfriend's girlfriend! "Now I’m falling asleep And she’s calling a cab While he’s having a smoke And she’s taking a drag Now they’re going to bed And my stomach is sick And it’s all in my head But she’s touching his—chest Now, he takes off her dress Now, let me go" --->>> I think what was "all in his head" was his sick stomach! And yeah maybe sick thoughts of his bestfriend and the girlfriend making love are running through his mind as well. He tries to stop his dirty playful imagination. In reality, "And it's all in my head BUT she's touching his chest now" implies that it was really happening! He can't do anything but be jealous and miserable. "And I just can't look It's killing me And taking control" --->>> He knows both the woman and the man! Hence, for me, his bestfriend and the bestfriend's girlfriend. That's why he sees what's going on between the two of them! I don't really think he's a stalker! That idea is a lil too crazy. "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis" --->>> Basically, jealousy was making him a miserable pointless person. First off, he's jealous of his bestfriend for all the wrong reasons. Second, it was really making him low. I think he was 'choking on her alibis' because, she doesn't need to give him some. He clearly knows that their relationship is just wrong. And also I think the alibis can be when the girl is telling him "We didn't break up because this and that...maybe next time" and it keeps going on and going on, he's losing his patience. Or it can also be that, he's hearing the girlfriend telling his bestfriend alibis why the two of them didn't see each other on a certain date or something. And it was because the girlfriend was really with him and he's hearing all these denials about them being together. He can't stand being denied by the woman he fell in love with. "But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes Cause I'm Mr. Brightside" --->>> If he just look on the positive/bright side, his patience will pay off and soon his bestfriend and the gf will break up! If that happens, he can still have his bestfriend and eventually the woman! Some way or another they can find a way to be together freely without his bestfriend knowing that they were actually together even before the break-up. =) He thinks it's destiny! So right now, while the bestfriend and the gf are still together, JEALOUSY is his enemy! So he should stop being jealous and wait! But he's asking the girl to give him some confidence and trust. Because I think somewhere deep inside him, he's not sure whether the girl will break up with his bestfriend or not. So it goes, "OPEN UP MY EAGER EYES!" Now he's Mr. Brightside! Poor guy, I hope his plan goes well. haha. This is my interpretation okay? It's a good story! We all have our own! But I think this situation really fits it well! |
