Tom Petty – Something In The Air Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I dig this song, seems really Beatles-inspired both lyrically and musically. I've yet to hear the original version, but Tom's cover is dandy. |
The Band – Ain't Got No Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song is ridiculous, makes me laugh. but not all their songs can be serioius, so I usually let this one pass by. |
Sublime – Live At E's Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the first couple of times i heard this song I thought that the one line was "the things you like and I'm uh eazy e and I'm uh..." and I thought that it was eazy-e rapping..ha. well anyways, it's a great song by a great band. |
The Clash – Hate & War Lyrics | 17 years ago |
great song, i'm surprised there's only one other comment. anyway, i've always seen this song as the clash trying to say the hippy years failed and are over, and 'peace and love' have been replaced with 'hate and war'. |
The Clash – Gates of the West Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one of my favorite clash songs, surprises me it was never released on one of their studio LPs. |
My Morning Jacket – Gideon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Truly, truly we have become Hated and feared for something that we don't want Listen, listen. Most of us believe that this is wrong" I think this part is addressing the rest of the world regarding their views of America. A lot non-Americans think everyone here is stupid and believe we support the war and the president. MMJ addresses these people by saying "we believe this is wrong" and "don't fear/hate us for something we don't want". |
TV on the Radio – Province Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is amazing. The lyrics you have are pretty close, but these are the official ones, straight from the CD inside cover: "Suddenly, all your history's ablaze Try to breathe, as the world disintegrates Just like autumn leaves, we're in for change Holding tenderly to what remains And all your memories, are as precious as gold And all the honey, and the fire which you've stole Have you running through all your red-cheeked days Shaking loose these souls, from their sacred hiding space Hold your heart courageously As we walk into this dark place Stand steadfast erect and see That love is the province of the brave Pushed under this expanse of bursting stars Let this burning brightly illuminate the where we are In this hollow that's lovers' voices occupy Let it follow that we let it free, let it fly Breaking open the walls of this cage Intoxicated, oh so amazed Much like falcons tumbling from the heights at play Conjoined, talons engaged Hold these hearts courageously As we walk into this dark place Stand steadfast beside me and see That love is the province of the brave" |
The Silver Jews – Punks In The Beerlight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song. I think the female vocals (I believe it's Dave's wife?) are a very good addition as well. |
The Silver Jews – Ballad of Reverend War Character Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"the stars don't shine upon us we're just in the way of their light" This is genious. David Berman is a genious. Great song, great band. |
Anti-Flag – Exodus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song (especially the intro) reminds me a lot of Rage Against the Machine. Good song, one of my favs off the new album. |
The Clash – Washington Bullets Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is brilliant. Probably the best song the Clash made lyrically. One of their most underrated. |
The Clash – Atom Tan Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm surprised no one has commented on this song yet. One of my faves on Combat Rock. I love the vocal mixing is great. Anyway, about the meaning, I don't think it has one meaning, I think different areas of the song tackle different stuff. |
Dire Straits – Walk Of Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Probably my favourite Straits song, and I agree with CrappyBassist about it's meaning. |
Disturbed – Stricken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is my favourite Disturbed song at the moment, and I agree that it's basically just about missing someone special. |
The Clash – If Music Could Talk Lyrics | 18 years ago |
and also this is Joe Strummer's self-proclaimed "favourite clash song". |
The Clash – The Magnificent Seven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Gotta love that bass. du du duddle duddle du |
The Clash – Movers and Shakers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One word: UNDERRATED. This is a great song often overlooked. |
The Clash – This Is England Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah for sure the best on Cut the Crap. I love the atmosphere of the song, all eerie and stuff. Great shit. |
The Clash – Hitsville U.K. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah not one of my personal favorites of the Clash (which by the way is my favorite band). It's a shame to, I saw a lot of potential in the song. Sort of like how they destroyed the amazing "Career Opportunities" from the self titled debut, when they had the children's choir verson of it on Sandanista. But oh well. |
Bob Dylan – Jokerman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My favorite Dylan song. Great song. |
Beck – Scarecrow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And also, am I the only one that thinks the vocals in this song sound like Jim Morrison of the Doors? |
Beck – Scarecrow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome song. I've been told I only scare myself on multiple occasions, by the way. |
Ramones – The KKK Took My Baby Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Marylin Manson doing anything sucks. How could he rape "Another Brick in the Wall" like that? Anyway, interesting song, glad I now have an idea of what it's based on. |
The Clash – White Riot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well, maybe it's just me, but the sirens at the beginning sound to me exactly like the ones Nazi Germany had that the Green Police used. Also, you hear the marching in some parts of the song...any connection? |
