In fact, this is a Skip Spence cover of the song called "Weighted Down (The prison song)" with some verses taken from a song called "Schizophrenia" written by Sonic Youth. Halmooky is right, half of it isn't in the sonic youth song. The other half is frim Skip Spence. But the way Cat Power combines both songs is great. |

"can't have the cream when the crop and the cream are the same liquid or gas no more than the glass will contain" I think this verse reveals the meaning of this song, which is about our limitations. The things we can do and the things we don't need to try to prove we can do, we don't need to be the best always. I see this interpretation as a very smart comment on the whole war thing and the patriotic feeling. How far patriotism have to go? |
