Interpol – Leif Erikson Lyrics 17 years ago
The mood this song creates alone makes it my favorite Interpol song by far. It took me a while to realize it's brilliance though. I love the part "you come here to me, we’ll collect those lonely parts and set them down...'

Junior Boys – Teach Me How To Fight Lyrics 17 years ago
agreed. this is my favorite on last exit.
the production is perfect...
im not sure it's "brand new shirt" though.

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin – Pangea Lyrics 17 years ago
Pangea is the name for the super-continent that existed millions of years ago where Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, Antarctica, and probably something else were all connected. I'm pretty sure they drifted apart over time because of plates in the earth shifting, which I think is what is referenced when they say "while underground there's a whirlpool humming."

M. Ward – Magic Trick Lyrics 17 years ago
yessss, and i love the harmony on "one magic trick" and "one and that's it"

submissions
M. Ward – Paul's Song Lyrics 17 years ago
ahh, the life of a troubador. this is definitely one of m. ward's best songs. his voice and the pedal steel go together perfectly.

submissions
The Decemberists – O Valencia! Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought immediately of "We Both Go Down Together" too. Both have that Romeo and Juliet story line with different endings. Anyway, great song.

Ben Folds – Give Judy My Notice Lyrics 17 years ago
i like the songs for silverman version. i think the band (and especially the pedal steel and harmony vocals) only make ben sound better. either way, i love picturing ben actually telling "judy" in real life that he won't be her bitch anymore.

submissions
Ben Folds – Time Lyrics 17 years ago
i heard that this song is about suicide. i'm still going with the break-up idea, which is what i originally thought, but i think that idea is an interesting way to look at the song differently. also, i would have to agree that this is one of the best on songs for silverman, but it's impossible to pick a favorite--they're all so good!!

M. Ward – Post-War Lyrics 17 years ago
exactly.

M. Ward – Flaming Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
The bells at the beginning remind me of an ice cream truck driving up the street, so I like to imagine that the narrator could be an ice cream man singing about his love life (or lack thereof). However, as great as that would be, I don't think its exactly what M. Ward had in mind when he wrote it.

submissions
M. Ward – Fuel For Fire Lyrics 17 years ago
this is a good song to fall asleep to. i'm not sure if he says day or death there. i like how his voice is the real centerpiece in this song. beautifuuuuul

submissions
M. Ward – Flaming Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
One of the best and definitely the most up-beat song on End of Amnesia. I love it.

submissions
M. Ward – Color of Water Lyrics 17 years ago
Very true, but the third, fourth fifth, etc. are also amazing. I love his falsetto in this song. Not really sure about the meaning though...

submissions
M. Ward – Story of an Artist (Daniel Johnston cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
I like the cover and the original, but M. Ward's voice and guitar playing are better than Daniel's. There's another Daniel Johnston cover ("To Go Home") on his next album, Post-War.

submissions
M. Ward – From A Pirate Radio Sermon, 1989 Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm not really sure on the meaning, but this song is so good. I love the guitar, and I don't know why, but I really love the part when he says "headlight through the rain."

submissions
Alexi Murdoch – Song For You Lyrics 18 years ago
yes this is an amazing amazing amazing song, my favorite on "time without consequence"

submissions
Guster – Manifest Destiny/Sorority Tears Lyrics 18 years ago
incase anyone wasn't aware, "manifest destiny" is kind of like the standard historical term for 1840's territorial expansion into the american west. it's like the way the people felt that americans had an obligation to expand west i think.

submissions
Yo La Tengo – Moby Octopad Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, this song is just...mesmerizing. The whole album is great.

submissions
Ben Folds – There's Always Someone Cooler Than You Lyrics 18 years ago
It's a cool sing a long and the message is pretty funny, but then that part comes in:
"And you know that I won't hesitate
Cuz every moment life is slipping away
It's okay"
...and it's actually kind of sad :-\

submissions
Matt Costa – Sweet Rose Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm actually starting to like Matt Costa as much as Jack Johnson. I like the lines:

"I want you to know that nothing's quite as bad as it seems when you're so sad"

...and, "I want you to know that nothing stays the same, but you and I, we will remain." Cute.

Matt Costa – Astair Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree, great song. Astair is leaving him and he has no idea why.

submissions
Matt Costa – Sunshine Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, just a nice, happy song. I really love that part in the middle (after the first two stanzas) when he plays that little acoustic guitar solo. I love the catchy melody.

submissions
Matt Costa – Yellow Taxi Lyrics 18 years ago
This is one of the best on Songs We Sing. The meaning is pretty obvious. He wants someone to talk to.

submissions
Belle & Sebastian – Dress Up in You Lyrics 18 years ago
AHHH! I can never get that little trumpet part out of my head!

submissions
Belle & Sebastian – I'm a Cuckoo (Japanese) Lyrics 18 years ago
I was wondering the same thing. hahah

submissions
The Boy Least Likely To – Sleeping With A Gun Under My Pillow Lyrics 18 years ago
One of the best songs on the album...but I guess I could say that about every one of them.

submissions
The Boy Least Likely To – Be Gentle With Me Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is impossible not to love

submissions
Talib Kweli – Too Late Lyrics 18 years ago
The beat on this song is just sick. Plus, Kwe drops some lyrics that are more relevant today than when this came out.

submissions
Bedouin Soundclash – Nothing To Say Lyrics 18 years ago
No idea what this one is about or what "living in the jungles" is, but this band knows how to write damn catchy songs.

submissions
Bedouin Soundclash – Gyasi Went Home Lyrics 18 years ago
Good song. This isn't an AMAZING band, but their cd is awesome just to chill to, and the bass player is great.

submissions
Bedouin Soundclash – Shadow Of A Man Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, good bass in this song. One of the best from Bedouin Soundclash.

submissions
Handsome Boy Modeling School – Breakdown Lyrics 18 years ago
Yup, "stopping to take the time to smell the roses" pretty much sums it up. I heard this before I heard the acoustic version on In Between Dreams, and I can't say I like one better than the other, but when I discovered this one on White People it blew my mind. Just the layers in the song, and the whistling and hip hop drums... fucking great.

submissions
Moby – Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? Lyrics 18 years ago
great song. i agree mboruza, it's anthemic.

until seeing this page i always thought "these open doors" was "feel so alone." i realize that's wrong, but i still think it kinda sounds like that. anyway, this song is moving.

submissions
M. Ward – Undertaker Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with what's been said already.

What a gorgeous song.

M. Ward – Helicopter Lyrics 18 years ago

"these pple 4 2 good 2 be athiest!!!!!!"

golly_gee_willakers you sure are ignorant. and anyways, switchfoot sucks.

submissions
Ben Folds – Annie Waits Lyrics 18 years ago
This is like the perfect pop song. The meaning is pretty obvious and I agree that the "and he waits" could be intentional. Anyway, great opener to a fantastic album...and "The Ascent of Stan" is an awesome song.

submissions
Feist – Leisure Suite Lyrics 18 years ago
This may not be the best Feist song, but it's definitely the sexiest...

submissions
Jens Lekman – You Are the Light (By Which I Travel Into This and That) Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a greaaaat song. The lyrics are hilarious, and with the horns and the claps and everything it's just too perfect. It's so cheesy and kind of familiar-sounding, but I just love it. I also love his slight Swedish accent. Next time I make a mix cd for one of my friends, this is sure to be on there.

submissions
M. Ward – Poor Boy, Minor Key Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, exactly. This is such a great song. Sad.

submissions
M. Ward – Vincent O'Brien Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with everyone else. M. Ward is amazing and so many people could relate to this song. I can never get it out of my head.

submissions
M. Ward – Fool Says Lyrics 18 years ago
This is such a simple yet beautiful song. I love it.

submissions
M. Ward – Helicopter Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is ridiculously good. I love to sing along to it, and it gets stuck in my head all the time. I can never pick a favorite off the album, but this is one of the best.

M. Ward is a genius.

Belle & Sebastian – If You Find Yourself Caught in Love Lyrics 18 years ago

Radiohead – Planet Telex Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with chaoticone. now that i think about it, that makes perfect sense. it's about the past.

submissions
Yo La Tengo – My Little Corner Of The World Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't know, interesting thought. I've always thought of it as the narrator accepting someone into his world (you said "her", but it's sung by a male...). Cute song.

submissions
Jens Lekman – Black Cab Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song. It grew on me too. I never hated it, but it definitely went from being just okay to one of my favorites.

submissions
Jens Lekman – Maple Leaves Lyrics 18 years ago
Awesome song. I love the strings. And the drums, and his voice, and everything else too. Does anyone who has the album know why there are 2 different versions of this song? (EP version + 7" version.) They're basically the same. I think I like the EP version better, but anyway... Jens Lekman rocks.

submissions
Jens Lekman – Pocketful of Money Lyrics 18 years ago
Yes! I love the ending. This is probably my favorite on Oh You're So Silent Jens. Does anyone happen to know where that sample came from? Jens Lekman is great though. If only more people (in the states at least) actually knew who he was.

Bloc Party – Little Thoughts Lyrics 18 years ago
The first few times I listened through I basically ignored this song. Then I kept randomly getting the "I'll go back..." part stuck in my head. I couldn't figure out what it was from, or even that it was a Bloc Party song. I ended up searching for "i'll go back if you ask me lyrics" on Google and went back and listened to it. Now it's one of my favorites on Silent Alarm.
