I can relate a lot to most of the lyrics in this song at the moment. 'a drink for one is never fun a sip deadens the pain she's sick of games and learning names she puts her black book away' This, for me, represents just trying to settle down and get away from this huge life you once loved to lead. Sometimes I think it might be best to stop meeting new people, pretending i like them and having to remember their faces. I just want to know real people. 'she scans the place for a friendly face suddenly everythings changed he took a chance on romance without even knowing her name knowing her name' life changes. |

'i think it's unfair, the only time i go away, is the only time you care' ever wanted someone to miss you but didn't want to leave them? that lyric and that statement are quite connected. sometimes the only time you can make someone care about you is to leave them. |

this is an amazing song. my most important relationship had come to an end, and i relied on this song to help me while breaking down. i listened to it on repeat for 3 hours, crying on my roof, watching the sunset, just like him and i used to every friday night for about 3 years. i think this song is about love and loss, and looking back to realize it was not all you thought it was, 'it was clearly never meant to be'. |

This song is just absolutlely amazing. It's so amazing that I of all people am having trouble spelling. I always thought the title meant that a boy killed himself, he was about to shoot something (like a girl... or person?), but he decided against it and got in the way of the bullet and the target. Call me a safe bet, I'm betting I'm not.- People have "safe" people, like you say "I can't get a date for the movie, I'll invite 'Dave'" Dave is the safe person. What I think Jesse is saying is that you might seem safe and reliable, but you're your own person, not someone elses' person. So call it quits, or get a grip. Say you wanted a solution, you just wanted to be missed- This part of this song was really relevent to me when I first heard it. Ever felt like you didn't want to leave but you wanted someone to miss you? Wanted them to feel your pain? But they wouldn't miss you like you miss them because they don't love you like you love them? So call it quits, you didn't want a real solution, you just wanted them to love you. You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins- Know what the smell before rain is? Beautiful. I'm guessing Jesse met the girl this song was about before it rained, or maybe that's when it ended. Blood in my veins? I live for you, I live for your love and to love you. You're my everything and I love it that way. |

| This makes me think about carnivals, and how things can be great without being pretty (without any music or lights), all I mean is that things don't have to be shiny and new to be beautiful. This song always makes me think about how he lost everything, and went back to Coney Island, to be where he once had everything, and to see people that do have everything. People will leave the beach, but he will stay, because it's all he has... He can imagine the yells of happy people, letting such simple things please them, and he remembers being a child and how it felt. Yet he doesn't wish to be back, though he kind of does at the same time. It's those he's just very stuck, and is just enjoying the beauty of Coney Island and being alone. | |

| It's perfect aim, not perfect hate. Perfect hate would not be relevent to the whole bit about eyes. "It's only you, beautiful, or I don't want anyone"- I love that feeling. And it is true, he doesn't care if he drives with or without a seatbelt, because if he died it would be the same sort of pain as he has while he's living. HEY LOOK HERE I NEED YOUR ATTENTION FOR JUST A MOMENT! Look at the lyrics for "Seventy times 7" by Brand New, then look at "There's No "I" In Team". Anyone else notice "Is this what you call tact, you're about as subtle as a brick in the small of my back" is in both songs? Was it subtle to completly plagerise? | I never actually thought this song had anything to do with condoms or "sex-gloves", I have new clue where that one came from. Well, I heard about this song from the person I love most in the world, but I had no idea at the time so it doesn't really remind me of this person. "You're a smart kid, never work without your gloves. If you're a smart kid, you'll stay the hell away from love"- To me that means that if you're going to do something, use all precautions. And if you're going to fall in love be careful who you fall in love with. Never stay the hell away from love, this does not mean what it seems to mean. For a while I decided to never fall in love, but if you never take any risks, how will you ever find a person who makes you feel better about yourself? | |
