Pink – Just Give Me a Reason Lyrics 7 years ago
I am surprised Pink let the man's lyrics be like this.

"I'm sorry I don't understand
Where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine
(Oh, we had everything)
Your head is running wild again
My dear we still have everythin'
And it's all in your mind
(Yeah, but this is happenin')"

Right after the first line where he sings 'I don't understand where all this is coming from' I'd tell him to sleep on the couch until he remembers where all this has come from!

In my opinion, he generally tells her not to panic because 'it's all in her mind'.
Her last line even throws back at him that she does experience this happening.

Really. I would not let my boyfriend in my bed again if he spoke to me this way.

For the rest, this is a really nice song - I love singing along to it despite the lyrics.

What is the very first line she sings, softly?
'We were here...' ?

Taio Cruz – Hangover Lyrics 11 years ago
I've heard this song a couple of times on the radio and after a while, I did no longer hear 'hangover' but 'hemorrhoid'. Yeah, I know what it means. Gives the song a twist, I'd say ;-)

Grouplove – Tounge Tied Lyrics 12 years ago
First of all, I'm not sure if this happy-highschool song contains any deeper meaning. But if it does, I think it's the author being sad that is relationship is over. He's just being told so, and he'd like to turn back time. Go hang out with her friends again, do the things they did before. Roll around the roundabout, go back where they came from.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games Lyrics 12 years ago
Can anyone tell me some more about the part

'Watching all our friends fall
In and out of Old Paul's' ?

Is it a saying, or is Old Paul's a specific place?

Lana Del Rey – Video Games Lyrics 12 years ago
Now I've read the comments above I understand the song title 'video games' better. I have put Lana's singles in a playlist with AIR's Virgin Suicides album. I think they go well together.

After hearing this song a couple times, I really hope Milow isn't anything near serious with this.

Roxette – June Afternoon Lyrics 15 years ago
I listened this song for the first time while being on exchange in Finland, during the first warm days, celebrating Vappu/Mayday ... First, it literally never gets dark up here. Second, everybody was sitting in parks in those days, singing, playing... man, this song will give me memories for years.

However, I thought he sang 'feed the pigeons barbecue'... oops. Like, why not feed the pigeons your crispy meat leftovers? :D

Other funny point is that the 'wheehee' sound is to be heard at specific times, but not directly after the 'busy making lazy sounds' line. I think that was too obvious.

I love this song. Eels is what he writes: bitter and sarcastic, yet so intelligent.

Evanescence – Cartoon Network Lyrics 16 years ago
All those people saying it sucks... think twice. What would YOU do when you made heavy, deep songs like Evanescence, you are being asked for a nice and cute CN show and your complete audience will be kids of about 6 years old?

Would you play 'Even in Death' to them? 'My Immortal' ? LOL True, she could have done 'Imaginary', but think of it: it not only gets the smallest kids scared, their parents will not even consider letting them ever listen to Evanescence again.

Amy did a right thing to write a stupid, meaningless, but very happy song about CN. She knows how to reach a crowd. She's setting the right mood for both the kids and their parents, making them remember Evanescence as a nice band. Let those kids come back when they're about 15 and get in to teenage troubles.

And for what it's worth... my favourite alarmclock song to get up with every morning is 'Sesame Street's Honk-Around-The-Clock'. Now who said stupid songs are for small kids! I'm 24 and I still listen to it!!!

Evanescence – Before The Dawn Lyrics 17 years ago
This song and 'Anywhere' give me such a strange feeling... I agree that it has a Romeo and Juliet thing in it, very beautiful, very touching. I nearly start to cry every time you can hear her sing the 'ieeeehhhh' after 'dawn'. If onions can make you cry, this song - and Anywhere - can definitely :P

No Doubt – Don't Speak (Demo) Lyrics 17 years ago
Very good demo.

I collect No Doubt rarities and found this one some years ago. I actually have the Storytellers demo (quite clean recorded, but only 1.20) and a longer 'Live Early Demo', which is badly recorded and has much screaming from the audience through it. Lyrics differ a bit, too.

But again, great start for a song that shook the earth (and my world) long ago ;-)

Bon Jovi – You Give Love A Bad Name Lyrics 18 years ago
I really love the song. Should load it in my playlist again. When I just hear the first lines 'shot through the heart...' as quoted by many above, I just turn up the volume and scream along.

Quite embarrassing that I once misheard what he sung and in my excitement, I screamed 'shot through the heart, and you're too lame...' I cannot help singing it this way every time I hear the song. Let's call it a little touch of a nerd I gave it... ;)

Air – All I Need Lyrics 18 years ago
What puzzles me is the line she sings between the verses... it sounds something like 'aaoueeeehh' - of 'I'll wait'? I always try to sing along but always murmur the lines I don't really know (guess my roommates think it's quite funny when I do so) ... and I can't really get what's sung there. Anyone has an idea?

Alanis Morissette – Hand In My Pocket Lyrics 19 years ago
OpinionHead:
That's the high five, I guess. I don't think Alanis is really that mean to give someone the finger in this song, it's so positive and not showing any brutality.
In this song, she convinces herself of being worth living, it's not sung to convince other people, but in the first place herself.

Eels – Climbing To The Moon Lyrics 19 years ago
A Fully-Down album? Every song is 'blue' as in, not happy?

I wonder why you say 'this song follows another' - because in my version, this is the first song, the track is 15.05 minutes, and at 12.13 a live version of 'My Beloved Monster' starts (why so late?) ... very humoristic by the way, he suddenly changes to the melody of the song to another: " I've got sunshine.. ladiedada (..) My (Girl) .. -> beloved monster" ... (while everyone knows he should sing girl).

I like the song :)

Eels – Packing Blankets Lyrics 19 years ago
Nice song, good melody. It's a 'light and easy' song, and very short imho.

When I read the lyrics I thought this might be a sort of follow-up for No Doubt's song "Tragic Kingdom". This is not really about a king in his lost kingdom, but about a relationship that's over or something like that. Although the songs differ very much, they fit together :)

No Doubt – Bathwater Lyrics 19 years ago
Somebodysbaby:
"Let me explain the song to you, kiddies (...) Gwen was pretty mad and pretty devastated so she wrote a whole load of songs about Gavin.

Dear mummy, I don't think you got the clue about the album Rock Steady. On Tragic Kingdom, Gwen was mostly singing about the end of her relationship with Tony - on RS, she's sometimes a bit mad about a loss of (Gavin?) but it's also so much about getting older, getting 30 (return of saturn) and getting the feeling she needs to do something serious with her life.

peaceblossom says a good thing: the guy is dirty but she refuses to see that. I understood the song very well, but I usually do with ND songs ;)

Alanis Morissette – I Was Hoping Lyrics 19 years ago
I was a bit distracted by the fact that in the lyrics above, not every saying is quoted... but it's a complete conversation between a man and a woman, who have met and have had dinner at a restaurant together... they know each other from the past or have been lovers one day.
She shows she's less stronger than she has been, that she's not herself on this day:
"and there was a day when i would've said something like "hey dude i could buy and sell this place so kiss it" ".
For I'm not English by nature I can't really figure out what things like "I was all pigtails and cords".

I heard this song some days ago by going through my Rock am Ring recordings... and first I thought she was talking to some strange man who she met outside the hospital while his wife was ill; then I thought she even knew the guy; then I misheard it and thought she met God somewhere and he told her about her life ;) ... and now I read the actual lyrics and I still don't get it.

One thing that's clear: it's so full of emotions, and the ways she sings it; she almost speaks throughout the whole song but the tones are so melodic with a good vibration in it, that she hardly needs any instruments to accompany that voice.

Alanis Morissette – Narcissus Lyrics 19 years ago
It's a great song. As many say, yes we all know some guy who lives like this. I actually had one as my bf and it really didn't work out.
"Dear self centered boy I don't know why I still feel affected by you / I've never lasted very long with someone like you"
It didn't last long with this guy, and while I already knew this relationship was going down, I still loved him in some sort of way and tried to change him into a guy that loved me... but he only lived in his own world - when I talked to his friends they agreed with me, but by seeing him they were licking his feet again. Awful and sad! Worst of all, the guy broke up with ME instead of I with him,... what made him feel even more great and grown-up. Stupid dude.
I think that when he ever reads this song, he wouldn't even recognize himself in it ;)

Alanis Morissette – Perfect Lyrics 19 years ago
Furthermore I forgot to say that the last line hits me the most. During the song, the part "What's the problem... why are you crying" seems to be the point where mom and dad reflect on what they said and are willing to treat their child right; but in the last line, they return to the point of "we love you, but only if you're perfect". That's so 'wrong'.

Alanis Morissette – Perfect Lyrics 19 years ago
Lexy1820, I don't agree with you. Although some songs of Alanis come from her struggle with her eating disorder, this song is definitely not to be based on that. It's just about young kids who are forced to live up to their parents' thoughts about them.

This song really adapts to my last year of highschool; after 5 years of hard work and good marks, it all went wrong that year and my marks lowered drastically; my parents, however, never noticed what was wrong with me and kept pushing me to learn better, raise my marks and get my diploma. I listened to this song very often, and it helped me a lot.
