James Taylor did NOT write this song. He is just singing it, and quite well. Shouldn't have changed anything. James Taylor was born in Boston and grew up in NORTH CAROLINA. And NO Susannah did NOT die in a plane crash! Fire and Rain's "Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines in pieces on the ground" refers to his unsuccessful band, "James Taylor and the Original Flying Machine". Their one album is great, Danny Kootchmar is in the band and they remained good friends. Kootchmar is also a great songwriter. You guys should get your facts straight, yall have NO clue. |

Randy Travis saved country music in the 1980s with his beautiful voice and songs like this. No one has a deep, beautiful voice like Randy Travis. "Forever and Ever, Amen" ranks among the top country songs all time, literallly. Some rankings have it as high as #16. Seems like I did research but I am just a huge Randy Travis fan :p |

Amazingly James Taylor's only #1 hit, and it was written by Carole King. Kind of ironic... he is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. He wrote so many good songs that deserved to be #1. |

Definitely not about a plane crash. James' friend, Suzanne killed herself on account of what other people did to her. He didn't find out until after all of these events, which is what the song is about. SWEET DREAMS AND FLYING MACHINES REFERS TO THE LACK OF SUCCESS OF THE BAND "JAMES TAYLOR AND THE ORIGINAL FLYING MACHINE"!!!!! THATS ALL!!!! You should buy their only album, its GREAT. I love Danny Kootchmar.
Any James Taylor fan would know what Flying Machine refers to, people should stop making assumptions. You guys can trust me, I have all 20+ of his albums. |

Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey co-wrote this. Jackson Browne began to write it and didn't like it. Glenn asked him if he could finish it and perform it. It worked out for the both of them. I like Browne's version the best actually EVEN THOUGH I LOVE the Eagles and they are my favorite band :) |

I live in North Carolina, so maybe I like this song more than others, but this is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Beautifully written and played. The original version on Taylor's Apple album wasn't great, but his Greatest Hits version is awesome. A James Taylor fan like myself enjoys both versions though. |
