kyle2k4 is the only one i feel has it remotely close. to me, this song is definetly about having broken up with someone you're still deeply in love with. "Leave me out with the waste"- to me this means, you've put me out with the trash, but leave me there. We shouldn't be considering trying this again. "It's the wrong kind of place to be thinking of you"- We've moved on, why are you still in my head? "It's the wrong time for somebody new"- even though they've put their relationship out with the waste, she still can't concieve she's ready to try dating again. the gun imagery to me reflects how majorly life altering it would be for either of them to admit to their mistake. neither wants to take the risk in "shooting the gun". to me, they're not attempting to shoot each other, they fear shooting themselves if the love isn't requited. they'd rather "give the gun away when it's loaded" and risk dying at their ex lovers hand if they were to deny them again than to be the one that pulled the trigger. the constant questioning of "is that alright with you?" is a desperate plea. it's a cry out, "if you cared about me, you wouldn't leave me like this". They're prying for information, does the other feel the same. |

| To me, yes, this song is about depression. But I think it's cause by being in a doomed/secret relationship, probably with someone that refuses to acknowledge you ("it's times like these were silence means everything and no one is to know about this"). i may be attaching this to personal experience, but immediately when i heard it, it sounded like ex lovers fell back together to pass the time, like the relapse of an adiction (thus all of the alcohol imagery). "it's a campaign of distraction, a revisionist history"... they're distracting themselves from their depression with each other, and trying to rewrite history. but it's not working out, because he is far more attached, and she wants no strings attached. | |

Britt Erin, the opening line means that this person he's loved, "the firefly" is turning out to be like "them", which seems to be his enemies in the world. when you have someone "on a line", you're supporting and protecting them, keeping them near. when you "cut someone's line" you're setting them free, letting them care for themselves. this song is about caring and protecting someone, and having them change completely into something you despise, and the anger this illicits. it's a frigging amazing song. |

| wow, this song came up at the perfect time. my friend pushed me out of his life, and at first, of course i beleived it was all his fault, he's a jerk... yadda yadda. but when i really listened to what he was saying to me, it was my behaviour that really put a strain on him. i have huge issues when it comes to love and trust, and whenever i feel like he doesn't love me, or that i cannot trust him, it becomes a no holds barred verbal slugfest, as i try to save my own fragile ego. this song breaks me into a million pieces, and i hope eventually that he'll forgive me, and help me put myself together again. | |

i love this song. it reminds me of this toxic relationship i had with a friend, who totally used me. i cannot get around him, because we've set ourselves up to be dependant on each other. and i'm the only one who's suffering from this union, and i know i need to get out. but everytime i do, i feel like i'm useless and nothing without him... starless. |
