Nirvana – Come As You Are Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I dont know if kurt killed himself or if someone killed him and I'm pretty sure none of you people can really KNOW either. I also think it is ridiculous when people say things like "kurt thought..." how do you know? were you a close personal friend? and if you were, why are you on this web page? thats neither here nor there though. lets talk about this song! It's ripe with contradictions, come as u are vs. as I want you to be. come as a friend vs. an old enemy. take your time vs. hurry up. dont be late vs. take a rest. come dowsed in mud (dirty) vs. soaked in bleach (clean). I think the song is trying to represent the tension of being who you are vs. living up to the expectations of other people and of society. as for the and i swear I dont have agun sections, I'm having trouble with the meaning. Maybe its the speaker saying 'live up to the expectations, they will do you know harm' but when the song goes back to memoria its affirming that by living the contradictions and the expectations you loose yourself and what you were...YOU...becomes a memory. n'est pas? |
Hanson – Deeper Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I absolutely love hanson musically. they have great voices and play very well. I saw the vh1 show and Isaak sang the shit out of this song (thats a good thing). I like the lyrics but they arent very complex. I wish the boys would go a bit deeper with their lyrics |
Coldplay – A Whisper Lyrics | 19 years ago |
There is a definite theme on the rush of blood to the head soudtrack and that deals with time and not having enough of it. the song starts with a guitar that reminds you of a tick-tock rythm and remains in the backround throughout the song. it is time beating on. then he begins with a whisper rythmically 8 times at this point it is that whisper that time is running out in the back of your head. these lyrics are wrong. the first verse is "I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Who remembers your face Who remembers you when you are gone" he says he knows time is running out and wants to know how you live on after death. "I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Come back and look for me Look for me when I am lost And just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper" here he is saying I know I will die and I want to be remembered so look for what I've left behind. here the whispers mean that all you leave behind when you die is a whisper of yourself. "Night turns to day And I still have these questions Bridges will break Should I go forwards or backwards" night turns to day is time passing by, briges will break are all the hard times in life and you dont know where to go next. in asking should i go forwards or backwards he is asking what to do in the hard times. "Night turns to day And I still get no answers Just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper A whisper, whisper, whisper" time passes and there are still no answers just the wisper of time running out. " hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Who remembers your face Who remembers you when you are gone I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks Come back and look for me Look for me when I am lost And I am just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper" this is repeated suggesting that this is a pattern of life, everyone goes through this. I go through this and when I die another generation will go through it. the song ends with the whisper of time, forcing you to hear the clock counting down. |
Sarah McLachlan – Witness Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is a plea for knowledge about life and death. she is asking to be made a witness to the truth and to be taken out of darkness (her current ignorant state) and out of doubt. when she says "wont weigh you down with good intention or make fire out of clay or other inventions" she is bargaining with her maker...if you show me I wont misinterpret, or create false truths. Then she asks the question: "will we burn in heaven", in the afterlife, "like we do down here", in life where we are filled with desires and urges that burn but we are taught to repress so that we can go to heaven. "will the change come while we're waiting" on our deathbead will we see the truth? will I be changed then? "everyone is waiting", we all die and we are all waiting to know the answers. when she says "And when we;re done soul searching" she is refering to old age. "when we've carried the weight" carried burden and responsibility "and died for a cause" the cause of living a good life "is missery made beautiful right before our eyes" is our suffering made beautiful as we die? "will mercy be revealed and blind us where we stand" will we be allowed into heaven and be blinded by the light of god? I'm not a religious person but this is how i interpret the song. |
