At the concert I was at, Bono said before this song "Whatever has you by the horns, by the throat, by the balls, whatever it is... I hope you're free of it soon."
That was very powerful. I agree this song is about drug addiction, but I also think its about trying to let go of something that you just cant let go of. Its about overcoming something that you know is dragging you down.

This song is DEFINETELY being played at my funeral.

It HAS to be "uno". Listen to when he sings the song live. Ive heard a handful of recent U2 appearances where they have played Vertigo, and each time, I CLEARLY hear "uno" No "s" whatsoever. |

wow good job finding a site that says "once." I dont know why you say its the "correct lyric", but oh well. All the main U2 sites- interference, @u2, u2ground, all say "uno." I am positive the lyric is "uno" If it turns out to beat "once" or anything else for that matter, I will go outside, find a dead crow, and eat it. |

Dude get off my back. A punk? No need for pointless accusations. "Un" means "a" and "one" for your information. I have yet to see any lyric website that supports your number sequence. Maybe you could give me one. Go to interference.com and look in the forums. Nobody believes its 11,12,13,14. Because why would it be? Personally, I think your reasoning for why its 11,12,13,14 is quite farfetched. Also you said I need to "get some facts", well what makes you think you are right? I have found tons of sites/people supporting my reasoning, and....uhhh....nothing supporting yours. So not trying to start a brawl, I was just stating my opinion in response to your first post. I always think this song has something to do with the devil. Maybe its Bono's voice and how it sounds. I mean it sounds like the devil telling someone all the things they did wrong in their life. Not that the devil would ever use the word "please" but I think he's saying to someone that all the good things in life that person wanted werent so worth it after all. The phrase "get up off your knees" refers to the devil saying to the person "look, its not worth it. stop praying, it wont do any good. get up off your knees"

This is in my top 10 favorite U2 songs. I have always liked this song, but it wasnt until my girlfriend broke up with me that I started loving this song and really listening to the lyrics. So i honestly dont know what this song is about, but to me, it will always be Bono singing of a broken relationship. Heres some reasons why:

I cant wait to hear this song live. I can totally picture Bono singing "Hello Hello" and then the crowd singing back to him "Hola!" Same goes for the "Donde Esta" Thats perfect for the crowd. My new favorite song by the way. I think the "1, 2, 3, 14" refers to the albums. This is their 14th album I beleive. Outstanding song!! Woot Woot!!! |
