The Matches – Dog-Eared Page Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about a guy that likes a girl and like Ruthless said she is really conceited "But you and me, we're both in love with you. " You and me which I would assume he is talking about himself and the girl. |

No idea what this song means but I love it. |
Jet – Look What You've Done Lyrics | 19 years ago |
When I hear this song it makes me think of my girlfriend and the bad choices she makes or is going to make with her life that she tells me about even when she knows it is bad. I am not sure why, this song actually can make me cry sometimes.... |
Lowest of the Low – Under The Carlaw Bridge Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I grew up in the east end of Toronto in a vibrant working class neighbourhood. It's interesting that a lot of cities in the world have a working class east end, both multicultural and strife ridden. I've always credited that early environment as the place I developed a political education and a strong sense of community. All the things that are etched in my memory - the snow, the grey afternoons waiting for the streetcar, the warehouses on Carlaw and the bridge where I walked and talked about politics, girls and musical world domination with my best friend - have gone into this song and others on the Shakespeare c.d." --Ron Hawkins |
Lowest of the Low – Subversives Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"In the early part of 1990 my girlfriend took a trip to New York and while she was away I got this terrible feeling that something was going to go wrong with the plane. I can't explain why or how but this feeling grew so strong that I was actually up at night worrying about it. I did what any self-respecting writer would do if their loved ones were in danger... I wrote a song about it. It turned out to be a checklist of all the things I loved and hoped for, and a few queries about the future." --Ron Hawkins |
Lowest of the Low – For The Hand Of Magdelena Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I remember reading "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and being able to feel the sunlight and the rain and the wind in the Spanish countryside. An early romance at sixteen with everything Spanish (had to be nature... wasn't nurture) along with a growing political awareness of the events of the Spanish civil war left me with a melancholy obsession with the holy trinity of food, romance and anti-fascism. The lives and times of the Abraham Lincoln brigade and the Mackenzie Papineau battalion also imbued this scenario with a grass-roots nobility that struck a chord in me. Several trips through Spain in the late eighties and early nineties led to the writing of Magdalena, and it's still a favourite of mine." --Ron Hawkins |
Lowest of the Low – So Long Bernie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"This just struck me as a terrifying idea. What if you don't know your friends as well as you thought you did? I think this was triggered by some t.v. sound-byte that I saw in passing and it started me thinking about the whole "he seemed like such a quiet guy" scenario. What if Klaus Barbie lived next door? What if Klaus Kinski lived next door? What if the person who invented Barbie lived next door? Think about it." --Ron Hawkins |
Lowest of the Low – Just About The Only Blues Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I used to hang out at a place called The Only Caf. I'm a bit of a creature of habit. Ritual and narrative are important to me, even as regards where I hang out and drink. ESPECIALLY as regards... Anyway, The Only is a tiny life raft of Lefties, bohemians, workers and students. A lot of chess playing goes on there... you know. It's a place where I used to go to speak in hushed tones about my life plans - music, travel, politics, philosophy - and be overly dramatic and angst ridden. By the time I wrote the song, it was imbued with such a hallowed history for me that it had achieved that metamorphosis that happens when a place becomes a story." --Ron Hawkins |
Relient K – I So Hate Consequences Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And after all of my alibis desert me I just want to get by I don’t want nothing to hurt me I had no idea where my head was at But if my heart says I’m sorry can we leave it at that Because I just want for all of this to end What does this part mean? Pretty good song though |
Less Than Jake – Look What Happened Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree that it is about an on again off again relationship that he keeps saying will be the last time and his last try but he can never leave her. He wants to just leave everything that has happened in his life so far behind and just get away but only if he has her to go with him. In fact I feel like this as of recently. |
Lowest of the Low – New Wesminster Taxi Squad Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is just such a great song. "Oh say, I can see You've got the weight of the world on your shoulder and it's killing me" That part is just amazing. I have no idea as to what the entire song means though. |
Lowest of the Low – The Dogs of February Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about a relationship that he just got out of after she had told him numerous times how much she loved him and told him that they would be together forever. He feels she has no real reason for doing it and is still in love with her. "Don't you love it when it doesn't work out quite the way it was supposed to Don't you hate it when it isn't quite like the fairytale that they told you A thousand reasons still remain, that you could justify again But I really wish you wouldn't " I think that says it all but it is just my opinion. I love this song. Go Lowest of the Low. |
