for piper@thegates- you dont have to know everything about a band's history to enjoy their music dumbshit. i wouldnt expect most ppl to know about syd, or care. his music wasnt anywhere close to the goodness you get when david gilmour and roger waters combine heads. they made the best. i bought piper at the gates of dawn, its not really worth the money. its too wierd for me. just stick with the later stuff...syd barret was just some crazy bastard and right when he left pink floyd got good. so who cares about him...i dont. sure, his life influenced later pink floyd music, also the wall, but i still don't expect half the floyd fans to give two shits about the man. not everyone focuses on a band's history, they listen to the music. get bent |

classicrockgirl- turn on ur tv. pop in wizard of oz, sit back, mute it, and start dark side of the moon right after the third roar from the mgm lion. not all of it goes together...not as well as some make it out to be. but there are a few parts where ur like, holy shit...thats intense. examples: when the bells and clock sounds go off in the song time, the witch rides by on her bike...same exact moment. when money starts, the film turns color. in us and them he says, black...witch appears. also at the end of the album when you hear the strange heartbeat sound, thats when they listen for the tinmans heart. |

ok...simple. watch the wall the song's about pink's crazy fascist regime going around town and just screwing with minorities...breaking down their shops, raping their girlfriends, killing them. its alot like nazis because its fascism...why the whole fascist part in the wall? well they actually talk about it in the wall documentary, saying its more of a joke than anything but it shows what power can do to a person. but i can see how they are trying to show the relationship between the crowd's loyalty for the band at a show, and the people's loyalty in fascism. but then again more of a joke...plus it was the best part of the movie. |

...its so simple guys. this song is written about when roger waters was a child, he had a really terrible fever. he said it felt like he was detatched from the world around him and he didnt feel pain anymore. and now hes older and he feels the same feeling again, be it by drugs or other ways. in the wall the main character, pink, feels this way because he has a mental breakdown...the wall is complete and hes detatched from the world completely. the doctor comes in and gives him a shot, we dont know what it is so stop saying wat it is. this gives pink some energy so he can continue on and play in the show. quit giving us ur stupid ideas of this song ig they're wrong...nobody cares. songs are written with a meaning, intended by the artist. it can't be deciphered differently...there IS a right way and a wrong way to interperet a song. |
