Olivia Lufkin – A Little Pain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Olivia inspi'REIRA has some good songs on it, but this is probably the most distinct song, and the ultimate Nana theme song. I don't think this is really Olivia's cup of tea though, as she seems to struggle with much of the songs. It doesn't sound like her heart is into it. This song is obviously about regret and love lost. It relates to most of the Anime/Manga, but mostly to Reira as this whole album was somewhat of a "how Reira feels..." thing. I think this is mostly related to Reira's affection for Shin, who is underage and almost ten years younger than she and waiting for him, but it could also apply to her hidden (yet obvious) love for Takumi, a man who doesn't have affection for her but who flirts with her and treats her like his little sister. This is also applicable to the two main antagonists, Nana, and Hachi (Nana) who can't seem to find what they both ultimately want out of love but yet keep waiting. It's about Nana being insecure and regretting losing Ren but holding fast to her pride. It's also about Hachi giving up on Nobu and Shoji, her true loves, and giving in to Takumi's selfish ways for the sake of a baby that might not even be his, It's also about Reira's love for Shin, one she has to hide but that she would go to the ends of the world for, because he loves her more than anything. |
Transplants – Weigh On My Mind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brody is featured in this song. She sings the chorus. |
Josie And The Pussycats – You're A Star Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song isn't about being famous at all. This song is about staying true to who you are and being special as just that. It's about not trying to be what the media tells you to be, which is a huge theme of the movie. It's about keeping it real. |
Norah Jones – Until the End Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This sounds like it could be about a significant other but I'm pretty sure it's about her mother or her father, although I'm thinking her mother. It's basically about sticking together through times of need and just confirming that although they are famous and their last names make them iconic, they are still people, still family, and will always be until the end. |
Norah Jones – Rosie's Lullaby Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is beautifully sung and played, although seems a little out of place on the album. I think the meaning behind the song is relatively straightforward. It's about a woman named Rosie, but I'm not sure if the name has a significance. Rosie is standing on the shore wanting something to pull her away from the life she has, so she has to "close her eyes and dream" of somewhere, something else. The moon has a hypnotic quality to it, associated with the night, when all living things sleep, and is therefore used in the song as a symbol for dreaming and associated with drifting off to sleep. I think the big ships in this case aren't necessarily actually boats but the things she wants and she keeps calling out to them and they are in sight, but she can't seem to catch up to them, and that big ocean is the obstacle she has to surpass to get there. The moon is tempting her to just close her eyes and keep dreaming, but she's standing at the edge of the water just wanting to make her way to the ship, but the dangers of the water are trying to lure her in so she can't get to the ships and is stuck watching from so far away. Just my two cents, anyway. |
Magneta Lane – Wild Gardens Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is about neglect. It's about a girl who keeps waiting for the love of her life to give her what she needs, what she wants from him and he won't or perhaps he can't just yet. He's focusing more on other aspects of his life and is believing that love with hold them through even the toughest times, but she is starting to fade from him and the relationship is deteriorating. She's tired of waiting, tired of pulling her hair with the frustration of trying to be patient and considerate but she begins to hate the lack of admiration for her patience. At the same time there is another man offering her what she wants and she's almost willing to give herself to him because she needs it so much but the man she is looking for it from cannot offer it to her. Overall, this album is about giving up, but not without a fight. This song is a perfect example lyrically. |
Nelly Furtado – Maneater Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I really like this song. It's very much different from the folk-pop I've become used to hearing from Nelly Furtado. It's an interesting change, though unusual, it works. The song is clearly about a woman who just wants to be with men who will give her what she wants, a "pimpette" if you will. It's catchy as heck too, which is always a good thing. |
Tracy Chapman – Talkin’ ‘Bout A Revolution Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm not sure, but I think the original version of this song is by Billy Bragg, or so I've heard. I have to admit though, Tracy pulls it off with both finesse and style. This song is amazing vocally and musically. |
Good Charlotte – I Just Wanna Live Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm rather ashamed of the Good Charlotte fans. Easily every comment on this song is the same: 'this song is straight forward, it's about them being famous and not liking it, blahblahblah.' I'd expect fans to be a little more observant and dig a little deeper in lyrics, not just take the words and interpret them according to what a music video tells them or what they hear at first. This song is a joke. Most of this song is a play on words. It's not supposed to be taken literally. Good Charlotte don't deny that they are now mainstream and famous but a band like this relishes the attention and really appreciates the fanbase (no matter how many groupies and mall rats listen to this). This song is just like 'lifestyles' and it's poking fun at the situation Good Charlotte have found themselves in. They don't deny that they're famous and that they're mainstream and that they are making a shitload of cash, but this whole song isn't a complaint, it's actually the opposite. They're not sick of being followed, they're not messing around with their future because they have everything they need to live the next twenty years of their lives comfortably. They just want to live it out and they don't care what the industry of the world dishes out, it's not enough to dent their paychecks, not even close to enough to kill their reputation. I'm not even a Good Charlotte fan, but it's disappointing how many people don't truly appreciate something they claim to enjoy, claim to connect with, and pay so much attention to. |
Pretty Girls Make Graves – This Is Our Emergency Lyrics | 18 years ago |
She's talking about music. It's simple. She's trying to explain how much music can mean to someone, how much it can change a life, or lives. It's also about how much you shouldn't care about the little things that keep you down, just keep your head up and keep moving. It's like Andrea is speaking of the salvation that music is for so many people and how they run away from these things through listening to music and being saved. |
Cannibal Corpse – Fucked With A Knife Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is not only the stupidest song I have ever heard, it is the stupidest set of lyrics I have read. Here I am actually capable of writing something that sounds decent, something that means something and these fuckers are getting paid to play shit like this. What a fucking shame. |
Magneta Lane – The Constant Lover Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Magneta Lane is amazing. I agree with mememe123 definitely. The song is simple, with a really good story to it, but it's beautiful. |

Alkaline Trio – Time To Waste Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It probably wasn't a hit because it sounds purely anti-radio. I don't know, that's my guess. =P |
Alkaline Trio – Time To Waste Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Nah, shand, I think I'll wait for the album to come out. I have to support my favorite band, and right now, I'm like a kid on christmas eve. |
Alkaline Trio – Time To Waste Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The album leaked. I'm not surprised. I am surprised that this song is so fucking amazing. I expected great things from the Alkaline Trio, but this is beyond anything I imagined. This is the only song I heard so far from Crimson, and it stole my heart (and head for that matter). I'm not sure the meaning of the song as I've only heard it once, but I do know that this was an incredible effort put forth by the most impressive band in the world. |
Metric – Calculation (Theme) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The best line of this song isn't in this transcription. "I wish we were lovers, but it's for the best." I think that line explains the whole song. A couple that can't be together and a woman wonders how things could become less complicated for the both of them. It seems that there is a deep care for each other but the possibility of them to be together is minimal. She thinks how if they were farmers they would not have any care in the world for this "grid we live in" I do agree with Swedish Fish on that one. The "bodies between us" is everything and everyone standing in the way of them being together and they wonder where all the conflicts and the restrictions came from. This is an extremely emotionally touching song. I know this whole scenario much too well. |
Halo Friendlies – Lets Be Friends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a very boring song. I just don't find the Halo Friendlies a quality band. The song is much too simple and repetitious just like the rest of their songs. It seems that everything is about boys these days, even the christian bands don't know how to sing about life and lessons taught by the faith anymore. I myself am aetheist, but this does not affect my judgement of this piss-poor, crappy band and this waste of musical production. The lyrical content is utterly simple and unimportant, and is not in any way, shape, or form interesting. If I wanted to hear about crappy boy problems, I'd watch MTV, not listen to an overstated band such as this one. |
Metric – On a Slow Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't think this song is about a friend who became a model, although it is a VERY good analogy and idea. I myself, couldn't come up with that. I think the song is about being sold false hope and being oblivious to reality. For instance, the line that says "tell me what did that salesman do to you" and the next part about the catalogue imply to being sold false hope and being led to believe in certain things although the don't necessarily mean anything to you. The three-way mirror to me describes reality, how no one can lead you on when reality becomes clear to you. (human trio competing against a three-way mirror) The three-way mirror would show the actual intentions of the trio. Walking the fashion mile is following the rest of the world, and the hand me down would be the thoughts of others, that keep getting recycled, and the originality and self-thought is gone. This is just my interpretation of the song, but I do believe in a way it makes sense. The model analogy also makes great sense. Both are quite valid in my opinion. The song itself is amazing. It's even better live. |
None More Black – Dinner's For Suckers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have to admit that this song is quite humorous upon first listen. I went to see this band live and I almost pissed my pants they were so good. Probably about being drunk or not having anything to do and just getting fucked up. |
korea girl – Reunion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My dad is completely in love with this song and I bought him the album for his birthday. I'm not too fond of this band, but they did bring something fresh to the music scene. The vocalist has a stunning voice, it's soft and completely natural. She doesn't strain her voice, and she doesn't overdo it, it's incredible how powerful it sounds although at points it is barely audible. The guitar playing in this song is also smooth and melodic yet probably punctuated at the same time. I have to agree that the simplistic drumming of the song only adds to the beauty and natural flow of every second of it. The meaning of this song is quite straightforward, it is about a tenth year reunion for a person who has been constantly ridiculed and left out in the dark from all the cliches and the high school groups. This person doesn't want to see all the people they've hated and "couldn't wait to leave behind". It hits home to a lot of kids out there in bands and poets and whatnot. This song is high school drama at it's finest definition. |
Alkaline Trio – First Date Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is actually called "She Took Him To The Lake" |
Alkaline Trio – Heaven (Psychedelic Furs cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I haven't heard this song yet, but after reading the lyrics my heart sank. I have read all the lyrics from all the songs by the Alkaline Trio and they're so amazing, my favorite band, my favorite vocalists, my favorite drummer, everything about them I love. I adore this band although this is a very mediocre lyric, I hope the song itself is better. |
Atreyu – Demonology and Heartache Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song really moves me. This situation hits home with me. I never seem to be able to forget how intense and sharp the pain is when it comes. It never goes, it never really leaves you as a whole. There will always be little tidbits like shards of glass that will stab at the trigger of a memory. I can relate all too well with the overall tone of the song and the singer's voice, the guitar strings, the power chords and the overall melody. Overall, this song just means too much to me. |
Tsunami Bomb – 5150 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a great song to live by. I love the song and Agent M's voice is amazing this low, the song has a very AFI tone to it. Overall, the song delivers a good message. It's actually quite obvious too. |
Metric – Grow Up and Blow Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so beautiful. It's not particularly the music, because if you listen to just the music, it's a little squeaky, but great anyway. It's so gorgeous, about a couple in love, yet so incapable of loving. It reminds me of me and somebody else, this is a wonderful song. So powerful. |

Good Charlotte – Predictable Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Insane. I cannot stand the new album, and I don't particularly like most of the first two albums in regards to lyrics and that, but this song is really good. This is so obvious, what the song is about. It's about being Joel and girls. And in the same context, it could be just that it's about being a rockstar and trying to fall in love. Whatever, it's really about how now that he wants to find someone who he can be really in love with, the only thing he can really get is that kind of feeling he had with her. And she got tired, obviously, and kept him waiting all the time because she never really wanted to be with him. It could be about a girl Joel really liked and just wanted her to be his forever but she used him and didn't even feel the way he did, so she just kept repeating her mistakes in hopes he'd get tired and leave her, although since Joel is so emo (yeah right) he saw through her mistakes. And now that she's gone he just wants her to know what he did to her in a song that will make him an even bigger millionaire so he can buy more three thousand dollar watches. Anyway, excuse the sarcasm, it's a good song, an intolerable album, and all-in-all pretty decent lyrics. Peace out poseurs. I love you all. |
Tsunami Bomb – Dawn On A Funeral Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can't believe no one comented on this song yet, because it's so lyrically beautiful. I feel exactly like this song, really, as though I could be somewhere else but something keeps pulling me back, and I'm so alone because of it. Everything surrounding me is so perfect and manufactured that I feel I have no chance whatsoever. Might as well just drop dead and let everything pass me by because I don't seem to be making much of a difference anyway. I think the very last line is self explanatory. |
Assorted Jelly Beans – Punk Rock Jock Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I partially agree with lets_kill_kristy, but the song also relates to punks who are all about the fashion. It's about people who are into the scene the media sells them. Imagine: You have your typical punk rock, and you have your overproduced, unclassified music, that the media will sell to you as punk rock, because it sounds foreign and interesting, and people don't know where it came from. Punk is a culture, not a fashion or social statement. You don't adapt to culture, you're born with it, whether or not you accept it. Anyway, this is also about a jock who thinks he's so "hardcore" punk, but a major suckup (seen with the coach's dick thing) and about how people these days don't need to work hard to be good at something if they are capable of sucking it out of others through falsehood. Oh, and for all those people who think punk rock is all about anarchy... this up here is a fuck you from the assorted jelly beans. |
Alkaline Trio – For Your Lungs Only Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song isn't bad. It's lyrically weak, but hey, we all have the albums that come after it, because we're hardcore Alkaline Trio fans, so we know they're capable of making our blood boil and our spines freeze up. But anyway, even if it is kind of lyrically weak, that doesn't mean the song sucks. As for the meaning of the song, it's a little tricky, but here's what I think: The beginning sounds kind of like a car accident, maybe the father of the son later mentioned in the song. It's quite possible that he lay there for hours, dying, and just thinking about how broken his home was, or something equally disdainful. And then the chorus talks about how easy it is to feel lethargic, completely agree on that one, Ziro. So maybe the part about the song is that he doesn't believe his father's gone, until he calls out his name, and he doesn't come. Basically about feeling numb. |
The Devotchkas – Mr. School Psychology Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I can't believe people have forgotten about the Devotchkas just because they broke up. This song is about being lonely and being called to talk to a counsellor (which has happened way too many times to me) and him thinking that just because he has diplomas all over his walls he can solve all your problems and shove his nose into your personal life, although that only makes him look like a dick, which most of them are. And then everybody looks at you funny as though you have some identity disorder or you're suicidal (which happens a lot too) and then everybody knows about the problems you have. After that your friends don't want to talk to you because they believe you've betrayed them. Well, Mr. School Psychology is a really good song if you're into fast street punk rock, and you like girl vocals. |
Moneen – Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I've been following .Moneen for a while now, seeing as they're from right here in Toronto, and they put on the best live show ever. I think the lyrics in this song are directed to someone who used to be a friend and changed just because they thought they'd be happier if they were different and they don't like the new them so they're trying to change the world to suit them instead of admitting they're wrong. I don't know, but it sounds pretty darn close. |
Billy Talent – Line And Sinker Lyrics | 20 years ago |
These lyrics are awesome! It's another anthem for the underdogs of the teenage population of western civilization who get picked on and stepped on by the popular ones. The line 'being great must suck' comes from how being popular is a hard job and how it must really suck if everybody's worshipping you all the time and trying to be like you. Because even though the popular people are the center of attention, they are always on display and they can never falter because they're basically icons and idols to all the faceless, nameless drones who follow trends and fads and don't know what their identity is. There's also a part about 'Santa seemed to miss my chimney' which talks about how being alone makes you isolated from the whole world, and it seems that no one gives a rat's ass about you anymore, even Santa Claus. Getting a grip with broken fingers is kind of ironic, because you can't hold onto something with broken fingers. This is a great song along with great lyrics. |
The Distillers – Desperate Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song is one of the best less than two minute punk rock songs of the new millenium. Enough with that shit about how good songs are all long songs. The lyrics are about surviving heroin and not wanting to go back but feeling the urge. And hence 'being desperate and going back again' meaning just how addictive heroin really is. And Brody talks about how heroin promised her she'd get through her problems but she never did get through them, and she doesn't want to go back. This could also be written for Rose (Casper) because she ended up checking herself into rehab from an addiction. Whatever, it's about drugs and surviving them and not wanting to go through that mess again. |
Andy Stochansky – Stutter Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Andy is a genius when it comes to writing lyrics. These lyrics are gorgeous to your ears and melt like candy down your spine. He has major potential, and his songs are very mellow, slow, and melodic. I agree with Richardumd about the meaning of this song. |
Metric – Wet Blanket Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I get to be the first one to review this song. It's amazing. The song is very catchy and the long interlude is just fantastic. The meaning of the song is quite obvious, it's about an underdog, most likely a close friend who can't keep 'falling for the creep'. Overall, the lyrics are great and the music is very retro at times and then indie and then childish and just full of music style that normally wouldn't go well together but are intertwined in this song beautifully. |
Metric – Combat Baby Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I love Metric and the new sound they bring to the music scene. The lyrics suit the song very well and I think this song is about a lost lover, who's still around and won't come back due to insecurity. I don't know, I just like this song very much. |
Slick Shoes – Darko Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song is great. It's teenage vitriol and vindication at it's best. As well as the fact that it's accompanied by a great tune is great. This is the first Slick Shoes song I ever heard and I became an immediate fan of the song and later the band. This song posesses great detail and emotion, and it's full of meaning. |
