We Are The Fallen – Bury Me Alive Lyrics

I find it amusing that when Ben&Co rose to fame, it was with the song Bring Me to Life. Now, trying to renew the sound they began with, they use the song Bury Me Alive. Sort of makes a statement. |

The Gits – It All Dies Anyway Lyrics
|
"Just tease me for a little more" is the missing line =].
I'm pretty sure it's about a friend attempting suicide... After so many attempts, which people see as pleas for attention, they actually succeed... Which is where "death is the sickest way for attention" comes in.
I think the POV is from someone who's torn between despising the person, missing them, and wishing they could've done something to stop it from happening. |

Could be taken for a drug problem, but I'm pretty sure it's about bipolar disorder, what with the bouts of mania and then crushing depression. |

May be bits of it that are wrong. A few of the words are hard to distinguish... But they aren't posted anywhere else, and I adore The Gits, so I thought I'd contribute =].
This is a good abuse song... Too bad it isn't very well-known. |

Cat Power – Don't Blame You Lyrics
|
Cause you simply deserve the best. I don't blame you.
Just because they knew your name doesn't mean they know from where you came.
Adore these lyrics. Pretty obvious... Makes me think of that line (I can't believe I'm quoting a video game) "Let's open the show with our single.... get that piece of shit out of the way." Pretty much the bad taste and ignorance of even your "biggest fans." Much as they pretend they're close to you, or that they have any idea what sort of person you are, they never really understand.
And it's pathetic. =D

Dead Can Dance – The Wind That Shakes the Barley Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I adore the Sarah Jezebel Deva version of this song.
I think the bit on "while soft winds shook the barley," the whole tie to wind, really, is just the sort of small thing that you notice and remember during a major time in life. Like when you remember something tragic, like someone's death, and you remember the shirt they were wearing, or the last thing you said to them, or the weather that day. Just that behaviorist unconnected feature that sticks in your memory... And how life continues unaware no matter what's happening to you. The world goes on, you aren't really important to the universe. |

Hmm. Anti-depressants? I know people like this... Wonderful people who've been through too much, who can't cope with all the wickedness they've seen...
I don't understand "sugar horse" though. Is it a reference to the medication? What makes it a sugar horse? =/ Confusing phrase. |

What an interesting way to view birds... The takers of souls...
Sort of personifies them as angels of death.

Acne. HORSE the Band wrote about acne.

I can't imagine any other band (except maybe Anal Cunt or Tenacious D) who could get away with a song subject like this. |

o_O Just go to a show. They hang out afterward for ages. I've met the lot of them a few times... Pics with them, sigs, talked to them a bit... They don't have that I'm-too-good-for-meet-'n'-greets philosophy like big bands =P. |

Hehehe I posted that video, Tourniquet2007 =].
Darkredbbb -- Much as Amy and Ben might have been Christians, the band itself was not, in fact, Christian. Similar to how the owner of a store can be a Christian without making the place a "Christian store." Google it, there's plenty of debate already out there =P. |

Bad breakup?
XD
I love when he says "Oh, how I hate you." It's so... cliche...
The song itself is great, but some of the lyrics are so overused that they nearly make me laugh outright. Suffice to say, it wouldn't win favor in a contest of writing abilities. |

Evanescence – The Last Song I'm Wasting on You Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
Purplestatement... I understand that you're pissed off, but could you not shove that in everyone's face?
Maybe Amy feels they do hate her. That's not your business, that's not my business. You can't say she's only doing it for attention because you don't know her.
You know what's really nice? Not paying attention to the drama. Not feeling the need to shift through the bullshit. Leave their lives alone, just listen to the music. You can relate to it without having to assume you know the whole story, because no one EVER knows the "whole story."
...That wasn't exactly directed toward purplestatement, but rather to everyone who adamently claims they know the exact reasoning behind lyrics =P. No need to be hotheaded. |

Evanescence – Lose Control Lyrics

Come to think of it.... Do you think the other girl could be Shaun's ex, the mother of his child? Maybe he still had feelings for her, and Amy felt ousted? Which would make the ending more of a guilty side thought...
Just pondering =]. |

Evanescence – The Last Song I'm Wasting on You Lyrics

I'm almost definite this song is about Ben, not the abusive ex (which may or may not be Ben anyway o_O). It was written just after Ben left the band, anyway, way before any of the other songs on the new album.
I don't much like the instrumentation, but the lyrics are beautiful =]. |

Evanescence – Like You Lyrics

Funny, I got a Lacuna Coil impression from the album too.
Not that it's a carbon copy in any sense, simply that Amy's incorporated a lot of the same elements LC use.
"I long to be like you
lie cold in the ground like you"
Oooh, a suicidal aspect. |

Evanescence – Lose Control Lyrics

Oh yes. This is the writing style I missed.
I love this song. I think it's overtaking Lithium as a favorite.
I'm going with Liquid-Spear-Waltz on this one. Great interpretation. The bit about the lamb is just an analogy for cheating. Mary had a lamb (the husband). His eyes were black -- dark, hidden, he cheated. If they play quiet, she'll never find out... It's fitting. Very devious.
I suppose the last two lines would be the regrets? If I do this to you, destroy your relationship, lead you astray, will there be anything good left in you? In a way, it could mean he's faceless, a worthless companion... Like maybe his loyalty is all he has to offer, and since she's breaking that for him, he loses all credibility... I don't know =/. |

Evanescence – Lacrymosa Lyrics

I didn't get it 'til the fifth, because I'm a loser =].
Sounds like a fairly regretless song, to me. He left, and she's done caring. She's done trying to fix things. So yeah, I can see where this applies to Ben...
I really think the instrumentation could have held a lot more emotion on this song... The preview was amazing, it really psyched me up for the album. The full version isn't bad, it just feels empty, somehow. I guess that sort of fits the lyrics... Makes it sound like Amy's still trying to convince herself that's how she feels, though. |

I can't get over how literal Amy's lyrics are now. It's just such a big change...
I think she gets lower in this song than she did on Fallen or any of the earlier works. Anyone know what notes those are? |

Metalmadness, I'm pretty sure those lines just mean that she sleeps the day away (hungover) =P. Could also be a metaphor for her inability to see the good things when they're right in front of her. |
