Rush – The Body Electric Lyrics 2 years ago
P.S. I also think at the song denotes that the stressed out android prays to some type of deity "God" to help him overcome his nervous breakdown. "Bows his head and prays to the mother of all machines".

Rush – The Body Electric Lyrics 2 years ago
I think this song is brilliant. Neal Peart uses a metaphor of an android robot for a human being. It is like we as humans are all robotic in a way. For me it is about a human (in this case the analogy of a human like robot-an android)on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The android is under distress as he remembers some type of past traumatic stress in his life, perhaps some type of traumatic childhood memories. "Memory banks unloading, bytes break into bits.Unit ones in trouble and its scared out of its wits." The android is in distress falling apart on the verge of a psychological nervous breakdown. What is brilliant about the song is that we as humans, our bodies are indeed an electrical system. When humans undergo too much trauma and stress and past traumatic memories arise, a breakdown can happen. For example look up acupuncture and EFT which are healing therapies based on the fact that our bodies are indeed electrical systems. I first heard this song when I was 16 and now at 44 this song is more relevant today to our lives with the stress we all undergo in everyday life.Thank you Neal Peart for writing this.
