Between the Buried and Me – (Shevanel Take 2) Lyrics 16 years ago
They're not even deathcore. Progressive/techincal metal/hardcore, or just plain progressive/techincal, is probably the best term to describe them.

However, to describe this song, I'd use: surreal, beautiful, and serence.

It Dies Today – Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
Evergreen Terrace's cover is the best in my opinion, but this one is good, too. Which is big coming from me, as It Dies Today isn't that great of band in my opinion.

The Human Abstract – Self Portraits of the Instincts Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually, it's...

Welcome home, an interrupted kitchen fight cut the ties.. You lay your blame in a god's name. Casualties must be defined now, before I trust you for a cure, because I'm not so sure.. You're not sorry.. You're not sorry..

Straight from the horse's mouth...err Nathan's mind.

Further Seems Forever – Pagan Poetry (Bjork cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually, before you go tossing verses around like you know stuff, Jesus meant that his arrival would cause controversy instead of being accepted by everyone mutually. Sort of like when he said “If you tear down this temple, I will rebuild it in three days.” He didn't mean the actual temple on the mount, he meant himself. Or are you incapable of understanding metaphors?

Bury Your Dead – All The Right Moves Lyrics 17 years ago
I see this as being directed to a lover. Perhaps, he was on the brink of suicide when he met this person. He had nothing, and despite that, this person loved him.

Makes me think of my girlfriend.

KoЯn – Twisted Transistor Lyrics 17 years ago
Korn is about as metal as Britney Spears, that is to say they aren't. Seriously, the band has even said they aren't. Just because it SOUNDS like metal doesn't mean it IS metal.

Also, I love how people say "music is subjective" (paraphrasing) and tear down the people who say Korn sucks. But then the same people turn around and say "zgom korn = god" You can't have your cake and eat it too. Do one or do the other. Ok?

And, I've heard girl and a vibrator as the most commonly talked about theory about this song. Looking at the lyrics, that seems to be the most plausable one to me.

The Acacia Strain – Pity Lyrics 17 years ago
Good song. I'd never listened to it before today when I was going to store and my player was just going through The Dead Walk. And this song came on. And I was like "Whoa. This is good."

I think it's written to a girl that Vincent is really in love with, but some tragic happened to her (a coma perhaps?) and he desperately wants her to wake up. He stays by her side and nothing could tear him from her. He would be incrediably happy if he could have only her and no one else. She is everything that he has, everything he needs.

I can definetly relate to that feeling.

I could be wrong about the meaning though.

As I Lay Dying – The Darkest Nights Lyrics 17 years ago
LMFAO AILD "brutal"? LMFAO LMFAO

Sorry. But AILD ARE pussies in terms of brutality, and the fall further on that list with every album. Look into REAL metal if you want true brutality. I'm not saying they aren't talented, because they are, it's just that AILD is by no means "some of the most brutal heavy metal in the industry".

I also find it hysterical that metalismylife would come in here to say don't trash talk my favorites when he trash talks other bands...hmmmm....

And it's possible to enjoy metal without metalcore, it just so happens most people enjoy both.

You know, just saying.

Chiodos – Baby, You Wouldn't Last A Minute On The Creek Lyrics 17 years ago
So , one person insults the song and you have to attack an entire genre?

Saying that metal is talentless, metal songs have no meaning, et cetera, et cetera is a fallacious statement. Any genre of music takes talent, even if it is just a small iota for some or a vast ocean for others.

Take a closer look at bands such as Dillinger Escape Plan, Death, and Kamelot (to name a few). If you can honestly say none of those bands have any talent, then I would have to question your judgement.

I think some of you people need to sit down and think about what you are saying before you viciously attack a genre.

On another note, I enjoy this song. It's the one that turned me onto Chiodos, despite hating it at first.

Suicide Silence – No Pity For A Coward Lyrics 17 years ago
Amazing song.

No respect for those who, as Emmure puts it, "When Everything Goes Wrong, Take the Easy Way Out".

That's another great song by another great band too.

It Prevails – An Anomaly Lyrics 17 years ago
"Even though I shall fall I will always stand up, dress the wounds, breathe in the air, this is who I am, I am an anomaly..."

Too many people get knocked down, and give up. Stand up, dress your wounds, take a breath of air, and kick some ass.

It Prevails – Explanation: Content Lyrics 17 years ago
Your faith is fear
Mine is not lost
Only found within myself.
From a distance my sight is bleak
And my friend’s knees
They grow calloused
But their passion does not seize
And our friendship, it succeeds
And our bound hands
They bridge the gap...

One person is religious, heavily (caloused knees from knelling to pray) and the narrator is deist/nontheist (probably nontheist, but I'm not sure) or possibly agnostic/atheistic (I doub this one though). However, despite their differences in opinion and disagreement, they are friends.

The spoken part is the narrator's take on how we can't comprehend a deity or at least an infinite being.

That's what I got out of this.

The Acacia Strain – Angry Mob Justice Lyrics 17 years ago
First thought says: Nuclear Assualt. M.A.D. Mutually Assured Destruction. And the aftermath of it all.

On a side note, my favorite part of the song is right after "That would never been seen again" when the song seems like it's going get happier and then it just kicks your ass.

Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics 17 years ago
Good News For People Who Love Bad News introduced me to Modest Mouse, this song be exact. I'm actually glad I stopped flipping channels when the video was on MTV to watch. They're actually really good.

As for the meaning, just float on. Ignore all the bullshit in life. I know a lot of people like this. I really wish I could have the same attitude.

I'm a bit of a pessimist.

The Black Dahlia Murder – To You, Contortionist Lyrics 17 years ago
"There's death metal here, when death metal becomes more melodic it becomes emocore, and when it gets even more melodic and symphonic it becomes black metal, so you may say emocore is right between death metal and black metal."

This makes me smile. Thank you. I needed it.

It is ironic that in calling god indescribable we are in effect qualifing part of him and therefore describing him.

Just some food for thought.

He Is Legend – Suck Out the Poison Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually He Is Legend isn't "christian," which is a terrible qualifier for music at any rate. They are signed to a label that has predominately christian oriented bands.

That given, both are good theories. I'm leaning towards the girl one however.

Demon Hunter – Undying Lyrics 17 years ago
Eh, niceguypose, the album was sorta touch and go with me. Sure, most of the songs (in fact all of the songs, Snap Your Fingers excluded duh) have very obvious fundamentalist meanings. But this is probably one of the better songs.

This, Fire To My Soul, and One Thousand Apologies are probably the best on the album, both lyrically and musically.

I'd take Summer of Darkness over The Triptych any day of the week though. Much more solid album.

Demon Hunter – On Thousand Apologies Lyrics 17 years ago
Tofu, the lyrics in the booklet didn't have the part after the quote. So I didn't know what they were. I'll add them in...a year and a half after adding this song...

But whatever, it happens.

Horse the Band – A Rusty Glove Lyrics 17 years ago

The Black Dahlia Murder – Funeral Thirst Lyrics 18 years ago
No actually, Death helped pioneer the death metal genre that combined with the usual preoccupation with death and gore lead the genre to be called death metal.

And saying so-and-so is such-and-such genre because they toured with these guys is the worst argument for proving something. According to your logic Every Time I Die is emocore because they'll be on the Vans Warped Tour with Emery. Or that Underoath is chaoscore because they toured with The Chariot.

Just doesn't work. Sorry.

Also, Training for Utopia is much better than Demon Hunter.

Demon Hunter – My Heartstrings Come Undone Lyrics 18 years ago
Littlehugs, stop trolling and go be a nice retard. =D

Shadow_Hawk_619, check out Underoath's older albums (Act of Depression and Cries of the Past). As I Lay Dying is alright; however, Norma Jean, The Chariot, and Becoming the Archetype are better. Living Sacrifice is good as well. And if you want to try some Christian Black Metal (oxymoron!) look into VIXIVI.

submissions
The Black Dahlia Murder – Funeral Thirst Lyrics 18 years ago
Demon Hunter is metalcore/numetal. I enjoy them, but they aren't a band I listen to often.

Also I'm lead to believe you don't know what death metal is. Death, The Haunted, Demilich, Amon Amarth. Those are death metal. Except Death became more techincal and progressive in their later albums and the vocals annoy me.

And you are lucky I can't find you, because the Slayer comment is tantamount to a death wish. Slayer pwns any other band out there.
