  • Lyric of the day #3

    by deserteagle0002 on May 12, 2010

"If you want this just as I do
Then be willing to take a risk, take a fall
Would be you happy to let it burn, let it die
    And wonder what could be?"
    - Diamonds and Daisies by The Icarus Account

What a powerful lyric. It really hits me in a somewhat unexplainable way...for one, it's perfect for my boyfriend. I was putting way more effort into our relationship than he was, and this is pretty much what I was thinking. I was like, don't you want this? Or are you just going to sit there and watch it fall apart?

"Oh, you'll take the high road and I'll take the low road
And I'll be in Scotland afore ye
For me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonny, bonny banks of Loch Lomand."
    - Loch Lomand, traditional Scottish song

I'm obsessed with this song. I'm in the school's bagpipe band, and we play this song often. Short story even shorter, I fell in love with the song. It's so enchanting when played on the pipes, and at the same time it's heartbreakingly beautiful. The lyrics are so sad, but the song itself is haunting.

"Another night, another dream wasted on you...
Inside I hope you know I'm dying with my heart beside me
In shattered pieces that may never be replaced
And if I died right now, you'd never be the same.
And I will always remember you as you are right now to me..."
    - Three Cheers For Five Years by @MaydayParade

I love, love, love this lyric. It reminds me of my boyfriend, who I am still reluctant to call my "ex", because I'm still waiting, hoping that he'll come around. It really speaks to me, mostly because it sums up so perfectly what I can't put into words myself. My friend introduced me to this song, the Punk Goes Acoustic version, the other day and I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it.
