...
Overkill is an American thrash metal band formed in 1980. Though they would go on to become one of the progenitors of East Coast Thrash metal, several founding members had roots in the New York punk scene. Since 1980, Overkill has released 20 studio albums, three live albums, four compilation albums, and three EPs (as of 2023). Although Overkill has taken a few short breaks, they are one of the relatively few bands of the genre who have remained continuously active for 40 years. Bobby (Blitz) Ellsworth (vocals) and D. D. Verni (bass) are the two remaining original members. Currently, their lineup also consists of Drummer Jason Bittner (of Shadows Fall and formally of Floatsam and Jetsam, 2017), David Linsk (1999), and Derek "The Skull" Tailer (2001) both on guitars since Bloodletting and Killbox 13 respectfully.
