Formed in 2006 in the town of Burlington, Ontario, Walk Off The Earth has given a twist on indie music by gaining success around the world with low-budget music videos from covers of popular songs on their Youtube channel, to their own original tunes. The band has also been known for using unusual instruments in their music, such as the ukelele, the glockenspiel, the kazoo and many more.
The band consists of Gianni Luminati, Sarah Blackwood, Ryan Marshall, Joel Cassady, and Mike Taylor (Also known on Youtube, as 'Beard Guy').
Some of their most well-renowned covers include Somebody That I Used To Know (Where all five members of the group performed the song together using only one guitar), Someone Like You from Adele, Payphone from Maroon 5, Some Nights from fun., and the most recent one being I Knew You Were Trouble from Taylor Swift, in which the group performed an a cappella version using only their voices with guest beatboxer KRNFX.
The group released a full-length album on March 19th 2013, titled R.E.V.O. which features their own songs such as Gang Of Rhythm, Summer Vibe, and the iTunes hit, Red Hands.
In 2013, the indie band was nominated for 2 Juno Awards, including Breakthrough Group of the Year, and Video Of the Year for Little Boxes.
