Chicago Underground Hip Hop legends, Earatik Statik, consisting of emcees Sef Rich and Carlos Polk, are set to release their newest studio single, "Big Fire" on Manta Ray Records, their first studio single in a nearly four years.
After releasing several buzzworthy 12" singles in the late 90's, early 2000's, Earatik Statik released their debut album, Feelin Earatik (Gravel Records, 2005), to much critical acclaim. The album featured such Hip Hop legends as Kool Keith, Diamond D, Edo.G, K-Solo, as well as indie Hip Hop heavyweights Akrobatik, Pacewon, The Molemen and Single Minded Pros. The album's single, "Evil is Timeless" b/w "Ill State Massive Pt 2", was pressed on 12" vinyl and distributed internationally. Their collabo track with Kool Keith, "Destruction Mission", was also licensed by a UK label, Filthy Habits, and pressed on vinyl and distributed throughout Europe, garnering them a large international following.
After several national and international tours, with such acts as Atmosphere, Sadat X, and Edo.G, and countless spot dates with artists like Rakim, Outkast, Ice Cube, Earatik's international buzz reached a fever pitch going into the release of their second album.
In 2009, the group released The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on Gravel Records, and received accolades from URB Magazine to the Source to XXL. The album once again featured an all-star lineup of certified Hip Hop legends from the beats to the rhymes, including production by Pete Rock and Large Professor, as well as guest spots from Sadat X (on two tracks), and Sean Price of Heltah Skeltah.
After a nearly four year hiatus, Earatik is now back with "Big Fire", a genuine Hip Hop banger produced by Phil Absurd and full length video shot and directed by Seth Savoy, that will remind fans what they've been missing over the past few years.
