Kenny Knox grew up listening to the rock greats, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Queen and so on, and all the while this seeped into his blood stream. Now writing his own brand of rock, you can hear an echo of these powerful voices and melodies to sing to. Writing about life in all its glory and intensity and not shying away from any subject, the lyrics are just as important as the music for him. Having been on stage with the likes of Angry Anderson and Colleen Hewitt in Australia, and performances with the Australian Welsh Male Choir across the country, and vocally trained for a period by opera singer Greg Dempsey, Kenny has a strong and recognisable voice which he uses to create rock anthems and power ballads, soft pop and hard rock riffs that Jack Black would be proud of!
Lead singer of Aussie rock band Ivory and front man for Melbourne cover band 4 Ton of Rock, Kenny and the bands rocked Melbourne and surrounding areas for a few years between 2001 to 2004. It was in 2004 that tragedy struck when Nikki (Ken's wife and bass player/songwriter for Ivory and 4 Ton) was killed. Ivory were at a turning point where they were getting interest from the music industry and that very night were due to play in Geelong, Victoria with a publicity company in tow to work on refining their stage presence.
It has taken him ten years to want to get back on stage, but with that said, he is committed wholeheartedly to the new Kenny Knox solo project with Downtown Artists managing him. Recording is taking place as we speak and you are sure to hear some new music this year.
